I haven't had any issues with the wifi connection. Once I set it up via USB it has connected every time. I do occasionally get the GHL control center to crash though.

Yes there are two , each about 10" wide.

The braces are actually more like 2 feet wide! and 1/2" think . I am thinking of going with a pair of Light Bars one mounted under each brace to eliminate the shadowing they cause, what's the minimum mounting height/distance (from the water) for the Light Bars?

No Profilux necessary. It uses the GHL Control Center software for setup. Honestly, I'm not sure what benefit a controller would add to the lights.

Correct, the lights can be set to Master or stand alone mode where all the programming is done on the light and saved in it's on board memory. In this mode one unit can also act as the controller and direct others set in slave mode wirelessly making simulations across multiple fixtures possible. I have first hand experience since I have a P4 and 3 ( soon to be 4) lights. If you purchased a controller to handle your tank as it primary function as intended then having it control your lights is an added benefit as you can integrate the lighting simulations/ behaviors with those of your pumps, feeding times , maintenance modes etc. buying a controller just to control the lights isn't necessary.

GHL power supply compared to a AI power supply

The GHL wins everything but size.

The size doesn't bother me. The fact that it will last forever and never break down compared to the other one is what I like!

No comparison really.

I've been running my LX7's in high efficiency since I got them, but today I switched to high output.
450 PAR @ top High Efficiency 100%
580 PAR @ top High Output 100%

Starting acclimation mode @70% put me back at 450PAR. I'll let it work itself up to max over the next 3 weeks.

You will find that the corals will gain allot more color in High Output mode. Its the only way to run them IMO.

I'm currently running 2 Kessil 360WE's with goosenecks on my tank. Is there a way to mount these in a similar way without hanging? Also, I'm assuming I would need 2 of these for a standard 90g tank? Could I run one in the middle and leave my 2 Kessils or would the center bracket get in the way? I REALLY wish I went rimless.

@mtraylor, I have a standard 90g (48 x 18 x 24). I have a mixed reef w/a few SPS and some LPS. There are a few fish as well. The tank has been up for a little over 2 years but my SPS's dont grow very much. The LPS's and zoos do well.

Then I recommend that you buy 2 mitras for your aquarium. One on each side of your center brace. You will be able to grow whatever you want then.....any where in the aquarium. You will love the performance of the lights. They are real nice. The bracing will give you the contemporary look that you already have as well. I would sell the kessils as the two mitras will be more than enough light for you. This will help you recoop some of your investment on the new lights.

It's been a while since I installed the Mitras LX7's over my tank and I absolutely love them. My corals are doing better than ever and have colors like I've never seen before!

We did an LA Fish Guys video series on my Mitras LX7 install. It covers setting them up for my light rack as well as setting up the Wifi network connection basic programming. It's 3 parts. This was shot early this year and just now released to YouTube.
Part 1 discuses the Mitras LX7's and prepping them for my light rack.

Part 2 covers installing them on my light rack.

Part 3 covers basic setup and programming.

Depends on what you want to grow as far as corals. 2 may work for you. I would start there.

@slief, thanks for your videos. You convinced me to also replace my Kessils w/2 LX7206's. I wanted more coverage and I loved the idea of bringing out more color in the corals - who wouldnt?! I dont recall where, but I read that a couple guys were able to mount their new Mitras using the Vervve mounts so I ordered a pair of them from @Premiumaq. I dont think the native mounts will work on my stand without a seriously painful install due to the limited space and the plumbing that's in the back of the stand. Plus they are a lot cheaper. I hope they fit!!

A sneak peek...I removed the halide reflectors and slightly modified the plastic at the end of the LX7. Then they slide right into my Geissmann Spectra.

I'll be documenting and providing a better write up once I complete my changeover from full apex to full GHL profilux controls.
