I am not sure you worded that correctly, but please be a defensive driver and NOT an aggressive driver. I worked in the insurance claims industry for 40+ years and have seen the carnage caused by aggressive driving. Always lookout for the other guy and don't assume they will obey traffic signals or laws. Think ahead and always leave yourself an out. That's my PSA for the day. :-)

fyi, if you are traveling 40mph, that is 59 feet per second. The average car will take 2 seconds and 56 feet to stop at 20 mph.

Thus the 4 seconds at 30mph rule I mentioned. At 40mph that would = 5 seconds.

I know it sound excessive but that's the math if you want to avoid another rear end.

Intersections are hazards and so best to treat them that way. I was taught to take my foot off the gas and put it over the brake when approaching an intersection. (and red light cameras have forced me to do that for yellow lights as well). It becomes sub-conscience after a while, but it also becomes habit to scan the intersection earlier for bone head drivers.

Drive long enough and you'll stop trusting the other drivers.

Fin, he is correct in how he worded it, I know from living in Ft Lauderdale, you have to drive "aggressively" or you will be run over or run off the road there...it is literally crazy there...only place I have lived where I was almost afraid to ride my Harley, and it is the only personal vehicle I had with me down there for almost 7 months. I have seen some truly amazing things while I lived there when it comes to people driving

Edit: maybe I should call it Passive Aggressive driving ;Sour

Yeah it’s ridiculous here. I live 3 miles away from my school. I see 3-4 accidents a day on my way to school. Sometimes more but never less.

Speaking of tarpons I had 3 last night at my snook lights. I like waiting till the big ones come through. I jump 100lb tarpons in my backyard. My biggest was 150-160lb out of the keys. My reel was too small so I jumped off the dock at the marine and grabbed it. It was so green I popped the hook real quick and let her go

hi gotta add lived near chicago driving 35 years there ,have to drive offence and defense at all times
(welcome to indy folks) people are in their own lil world on the expessways ,i am not among the slow drivers;)
but both hands on wheel ,eyes wide open n no matter how much i was against it seatbelts is habit now!!

On Long Island we have a beautiful symphony of aggressive driving, passive aggressive horn honking and finger giving and not to mention the use of bumper tapping in lieu of back up cameras. We know to keep out of the left lane if you are doing under 70 and that no more than five feet distance between cars on the LIE. Darwinian, but it works for us.

Look what arrived early today:

Atlantic Biotechnology tigriopus californicus. Very happy with the density and activity with these pods. Lots of adults.

I threw together the a home with a hermit crab tank that I forget why I got it. It's been in the pile of excess for a few years just in case of a day like today

Pretty lively group, I might drop a few dino cells in there to develop their appetite :)
