My only thoughts on this are the reports of varying types of residue left behind in mixing buckets/tanks. I personally never had issues with Red Sea, but I have seen increasing reviews from people talking about residue and whatnot after mixing. On other brands I've seen talk of inconsistent levels of alk, calk and mag from bucket to bucket...i get that stuff settles in transport and all...and i always mix the salt before adding it t my water but just curious as to what you guys use
I used TM Pro in my last tank. Loved it. When I upgraded to my 425xl, the LFS had switched to Red Sea blue bucket and I was still buying my water from them. I can say the brown crud drives me nuts. I use a power head to keep the water moving and still get the crud, so I end up making just enough salt water for my water change. It just gets to nasty to store. Also, I NEVER had any algae problems when using TMP, other than diatoms. No hair algae, bryopsis, Dino’s..nothing. Can’t say the same since using the RS. I planned on switching back, but life got in the way. BRSTV did some great videos on the salt mixes. I think TMP was one of the top choices and cleanest

I really need to put together a better clean up crew..When I “re-started” my tank I was overrun with hair algae, so I got some Mexican turbo snails. started adding dish, still had hair algae, so stayed with my Mexican turbos.I’ve added some trochus and two emerald crabs, but that’s it. Any suggestions? I would love some shrimp, but I have a flame hawkfish and I’ve been told they don’t play well with shrimp :(

On a serious note...what salt is everyone using in their tanks? I used to be a Red Sea pro guy, but I've been seeing some negativity about it lately. Tropic Marin seems to be soldout at most all online venders, so not sure what to go with.
I'm all about Tropic Marin Classic, but with my recent alkalinity troubles (Lost everything but the fish!!!) I'm thinking of going with their 7-8dkh salt.

Ah, true love.. You and my husband could be great friends;)
Lol...you have hit the proverbial nail on the head...we grew up a couple blocks away from each other...went to the same elementary school, middle/jr high school, and high school together...after graduation, we didnt see each other for nearly 20 years. Out of the blue she invited me to an impromptu and unofficial class reunion...been inseparable ever since...that was 8 years ago this past week. At this point Id be lost without her. Lol
