Colors play a big roll but maybe not the main roll in my like/dislike for a coral. I don’t mind corals of 1 or 2 colors, I absolutely love my Red Planet, but I love the multi color corals as well, my rainbow tracky comes to mind. For me it is about what I wand at the time. When I started my tank Again after 7 years I wanted something that would be colorful and grow quickly to fill in space so I got some zoas. Now I want to get rid of the zoas and get sps that grows slower but it more deliberately placed. I still want good color.

In summary, I guess what I am saying is; I like what I like color may or may not factor. How is that for a definitive answer?

I think it depends on the coral. I Love my rainbow corals, but I also have some simple ones that I would hate to lose like my Goni. It’s the sparkling bling in my :)

i've always been partial to torches and elegance corals, but this rainbow acanthophyllia really grabbed my attention a while back, until i saw the price tag for it.

Beautiful coral. Just curious, what was the price tag?

1. What is the most beautiful coral (get specific) you have ever seen in person and why do you say that?
My Australian Elegance coral. Granted, I have not seen many corals in my lifetime, but it is my favorite. Blue corals are so uncommon in the ocean, and the purple accents just make my heart sing!
2. Do the amount of colors a coral has play a big factor when you consider it's beauty? If not then what is it?

Sometimes. Often when I see something that I consider beautiful, it has fascinating textures or bright and unusual colors.

Happy Monday and let's kick off the reefing week by talking about the MOST BEAUTIFUL corals we have ever seen along with a question about colors. I don't want to hear about ones you've seen on R2R or seen on a vendor website but those you've seen in person! No matter what type of coral it is, SPS, LPS, Soft, whatever it is tell us about it and why it's beautiful to you.

SHARE A PHOTO IF YOU HAVE ONE

Bioreef in Jax has a 12 inch rock covered in OG Bounce Shrooms and it is breathtaking.

It doesn't have to be a rainbow but that definitely doesn't hurt. What I think makes a special coral is when you get a frag and it completely transforms into something beautiful.

This is a frag I picked up from my LFS for $10 and it was a brown turd.

6 months later - I now count 6 colors

This is a coral I kept seeing in a friends tank and just needed to have it, Holy Grail Gold Torch from Aqua SD. It had finally split for him and he gave me the chance to pick a frag up from him, ITS AMAZING!

Really love this Birds Nest. At one time it was completely bleached and now rebounded with dedicate branches and soothing colors.
