Here's a looker ;) Pengs Purple Tip Granulosa.

Jeez Perry, gorgeous! If I had a to pick a single favorite species - granulosa would be the one. Thanks for throwing this one up!

Almost caught up! I'm working through thread page 8 currently.... If I've missed a pic (before pg 8 that you want to see added to the pic base, speak up!

Still considering removing the poll and and just asking folks to post their top 5 corals, and manually track the votes.

For now: 6 more corals added to poll and pic base:

1. CC Banana Hammock - another beautiful colony @bobnicaragua ! Thank you sharing and letting us use your excellent photo!
2. WWC Monti Cap - thanks @Lionfish hunter for posting your phots and for adding (another!) solid entry to the Full Spectrum Stunner lineup!
3. ORA Red Planet - @Tahoe61 - Excellent shot of a true OG; thank you for taking the time to post!
4. UC Strawberry Shortcake - @billyocean & @jackson6745 : displaying solid photography skils + a coral that absolutely crushes it when under the bright whites! Thank you!
5. Another post from @Big E : if you are not getting paid for either reefkeeping or photography, then the balance of the universe got throw off somewhere. Thanks so much for sharing your outstanding corals + photos. Keep them coming!!

Birdsnest is underrated, full spectrum, but kinda blue. Looks more white in person.

Hey @Perry - I am not able to find any information on "Peng". Do you have any info on him (looking for just a bit more detail for 'lineage' input on the picbase). Even a full name would be helpful. His Peng's R2R handle "Peng" ? Any info will be helpful.

Oh - and during my search, I came across your video on this coral. As always, mesmerized by you corals, systems, knowledge. Thanks for your contributions to the hobby.

Vivid Insanity center of pic---

It's a nice pastel pink, so if you don't have any pastel corals it's a nice addition.

Mine was a little pale but you can see how it compares to some deeper colored corals. Any pic that shows it popping off the page are geeked with saturation & blue lighting.

Thanks Big E! It looks very nice. I can imagine what your piece would look like with blue led and an orange filter lol

tbf... alot of pieces (besides blue and purples) do look pretty amazing under blues and a filter after you've baked them all day in good lighting. i do enjoy a good show at night.

Hey Nate,
So, there is a story there. I believe with smoothies, due to the hype in tenuis, then to speciosa, the granulosa, lokanis, echinatas, turakis, simplex, surhansoi, and the list goes on, were most certainly overlooked, and the name game didn't really take off. That in mind, Peng, was on the scene and built a reputation for having the most extensive and complex strains of smoothies. He apparently got out of the game, the colonies were purchased, and the story gets more interesting...
.Many of his collectibles were not continued under Peng lineage. Out of the deepest respect for the hobby and Peng, I would NEVER change the name, I would continue to honor the original name, I might say, I have Perry's (Peng's Purple Tip Granulosa), but not change the name to something else and try and hype it as a new found coral. I know the stories and have been in the game WAY too long, and have laughed my tail off at the vendors and hobbyists using their marketing HYPE as they KNOWINGLY change the name, erase the history of these beautiful specimens. Don't worry all you slick fools, I will not blast you, two wrongs don't make a right, but you know exactly who you are now don't you?
Some will say, that's business, move along, so I will, but know that I am in this for the progression of acros, for the TRUTH of how to keep them! Sad times, when $ are the motivating factor for folks, I choose the animals. I now do this stuff full time, and maintain some crazy massive systems both private and commercial. When I finally get the time, I will update my build on You-Tube, and begin a series of different videos. Here are some topics:
1. Micro-biome
2. Bacteria, Diversity, Homing, and types/applications
3. Eco-system approach, creating a system, not a tank
4. Circadia Rythms, how the may or may not apply to reefing/spawning
5. Lighting Revist

That should fill the 2025 content calendar ;)

I want one of these so bad - even if it looks bad under whites... anyone got a pic?

I have a mini colony of POTO after burner started from a frag. Got it from POTO directly, they’re local to me. It seems to be the same coral as TGC Northern Crush. Both of them kind of look like branching efflos to me color-wise. You really need the blue led and orange filter to get that multi color look. Pic is with halides. I’ll get a photo with led and orange filter for comparison

@Perry, Isn’t Peng @coral reeftank Dad or did I totally imagine that?

Pretty sure that Hung is Alan's dad, not sure about a Peng affiliation. Hungs Rainbow is that elusive one his dad and him named. That one is fussy for me :)

Shoot ok thank you for clarifying. I know someone was his dad that had a coral name coined. Sorry Alan for having it wrong!
