So recently got a white tail tang(so pretty) and didn't have a big enough Qt for them so decided to roll the dice on health... And as one night guess by this post, it turns out she had something. She's already in hospital (said original 20 small tank) with copper and improving already, but I'm about to start pulling rest of the fish out of the DT. Question is... Ich or Velvet. I had a grandma Gramma who I've had for 5 or six years get something similar then it all went away a few days ago and he's right as rain at moment. Initially I thought velvet so I had an all(most) night hospital tank setup run. But I don't know. I would very much appreciate the collectives opinion. Image attached.

These are mucus cones mixed in with ich. Often other occupants wont show signs but dont rule them out. Treatment will be in a separate tank using coppersafe at treatment level 2.25 for 30 days with added aeration via air stone. Do not interrupt this 30 day period monitored by a reliable Copper Test kit such as Hanna Brand- No API brand. Also monitor Ammonia levels while in quarantine with a reliable test kit

Welcome to Reef2Reef!

That’s ich. Velvet causes rapid breathing, not eating and hovering in water currents. No distinct spots like your fish shows.

Do you have a treatment plan? Either coppersafe or hyposalinity would be the best choices.
Yep. They are already in a hospital tank. A old sumped nano I had sitting around. Coppersafe in there, dosed at recommended. Waiting on my copper reader to adjust if needed.
