180g 6ft DT with roughly 20 different species of zoas and 10 different species of Palys. Hardly any other type of coral to speak of.

GOAL: to have every LR fully covered in different colors of zoas/palys

REALITY : slow grow .... maybe seeing 1 new polyp every 1-2 months from each of the different species

My Quick Parameters: 79-temp, 1.024-sg, no3-<1, po4~0.2, 480-calc, 6-7-alk, 1500ish-mag....

LIGHTS custom retrofitted fixtures pushing 400-460nm at moderately high PAR for 11hrs.

FLOW is low

QUESTION:
Wondering if you grow zoas/palys LIKE CRAZY.... what do you thing is your secret weapons for them to grow and spread like weeds??..

My zoas grow like wild fire and all I really do is keep the water a little “dirty” and spot feed them twice a week. Things I do indirectly is dose phyto daily and when I feed the fish I randomly drop some mysis on top of them.

I noticed they take a few months to stabilize and then they just start to take off. 7 heads turned into 20+ in about 7-8 months. Before and afters (btw I do supplement iodine)

Need some N/P for these guys, feed heavier or add some reef roids or other concentrated commercial foods. Dosing phyto and pods like Mario above is one of the best things I started doing.

Form or function: Do you consider your rock work to be art or the platform for your coral?
