The build continues.
A new acro and a new stylo. 3 new hammers and a naso Tang.

Now that I've got the coral munching damsel out the display, I'm hoping the corals he was chowing down on can recover but I do not have high hopes for one of them. I think it's a goner.

Pics to come tomorrow!
This time...
I promise to take pics and post them.

Oh...
My algae reactor was delivered yesterday. Before I could get it inside, a package theif grabbed it.
I saw it on my ring app. Dude just walked up my steps, grabbed my package and walked away with it.
Sucks that stuff like this happens but I guess it's the times we live in.

Marine depot is giving me the blues about it.
I sent them the video of the theft. I filled a police report and provided them the police report number but they saying they need the actual police retort and it has to go through an approval process that can take weeks.

In the meantime, I'm stuck paying for something that was stolen.
I know they have insurance to cover things like this so I'm in my feelings that they making me go through all this.

I've spent a LOT of thousands with them. I may have to reassess where I spend my money because all I should hear from them is...

I'm so sorry this happened. You sent us the video showing the theft so you have nothing to worry about. We will make this right.
But nooooooo...
I need to provide the police report and then wait weeks to hopefully be made whole while they have insurance to cover stuff like this...
I feel slighted!

I purchased "another" algae reactor.
Local reefer had the same one I wanted. He was not using it. Said it's too big for his system.
I got it for a real good price so I'm happy!
Now I gotta wait for marine depot to do the right thing and give me my refund.

I moved my LPS around a little bit to make room for the 3 new hammers. I still have to figure out where to put the acro and style.

The Naso Tang is doing pretty well. He's like half the size of the yellow and the sailfin. Both of them gave him a hard time yesterday but they were not relentless and today all is well. The Naso is eating. He not eating with gusto yet but I'm not worried about him. I think he will do just fine in my tank.

Pics coming when the sun goes down so hopefully I can get nice pics without glare.

So yesterday I was not worried about the naso Tang. Today I am very concerned.

He not being picked on but I fed the tank and he not really eating.
He's swimming with his head slightly pointed down. He's not swimming strongly and is getting blown off track too easily by the powrtheads. He's a darker grey than he should be.

I hope he snaps out of it and starts eating.
I've had bad luck with nasos for the past few years. They go on hunger strikes and die.

I know the signs of an unhappy naso and mine is showing all those signs.

I don't have another tank to put him in since I caught the 2 damsels and moved them.
My lionfish is in the 20g long and the damsels are in the 15g column.

I will keep an eye on him but don't know what I can do to help him if anything.

I have the hospital tank set up for my little Naso. I have a little 5.5 gal I'm using for this purpose.

I will treat him with
Furan-2
Metroplex
Kanaplex

I will also treat him with Prazipro.

I don't know which to treat him with first.
The first 3 meds get treated together but I can't mix the Prazipro with these.

Which to treat first?

Well...

I got two small yellow coris wrasses and a goldenhead goby.

Let's see how this works out.
Pics to come.

So...

Goldenhead goby settled right in and went to work on the sand. He's doing his job! All I have to do is keep him feed well.
There is more than enough in the sand for him to have his fill for a while.

The two yellow coris wrasses went into the sand yesterday and have not popped up yet.
I do expect to see them around the tank within the next few days though.

I added some pods to the algae reactor. Just one bottle of tiger pods to start.
I will be adding a 16oz. bottle of Tisbe and artic pods in the coming weeks.

I'm making a pod home in my sump.
I have an empty rox08 carbon container that I'm going to drill holes into and add a bunch of live rock rubble to.
I will submerge this into my sump and dump even more pods into that in the hopes of getting the population to explode. I may even build a small pod hotel out of corrugated plastic to put into it so I can easily feed the tank with pods whenever I want to.
Better yet, I'm going to use plastic pot scrubbers and keep life simple.
I figure I can dose phytoplankton straight to the container to feed the pods.

Here it is.
My in sump pod population home.

Holes on the bottom face the incoming water from the sump divider. This should allow a slow flow going through the pod population home.
Holes in the top should allow a small amount of pods to escape on the regular.

I will have live rock rubble and plastic pot scrubbers on top of rubble.

I think this should work for a pod population home in my sump with no refugium.

Just got caught up. I had not received an alert for your build since 1/12. Sorry to hear about the Naso, that sucks.

Beautiful tank and it's probably going to really start showing off soon. Now you gotta up those photography skills to do it justice!

Thank you.

I'm working on my photography skills. I use my phone for photos. I have a Samsung Note 20 Ultra that takes fantastic pictures.
It's just not good at all for taking pics of the Reef.

I think I got the color right.
Gotta work on sharpness.

The goby is busy doing his thing but...
He's turning the whole tank into a giant snow globe.

Small particles throughout the water column.

He's not taking sand up to the surface and dumping it but he's sure making a mess of the water.

I saw one of the yellow coris wrasses today for a hot minute.
He came up out the sand, caught the eye of the blue damsel and got chased. He dove right back into the sand.

Let's see what the next few days brings a far as the yellow coris wrasses are concerned.

Tank is looking much better today after running the canister filter overnight. I'm probably gonna leave it running for the next few days to keep the mechanical filtration beefed up as the goby does his thing.

One of my two yellow coris wrasses came out today and he's still out.
He's being very cautious and staying very close to the sand and one corner of the tank. The only fish that messes with him is my blue damsel.
When the wrasse popped up, I fed the tank to distract the other fish. I think it worked at least temporarily.

It's official.

One yellow coris wrasse is out and about!
He's going all over the tank and staying out.

Now I just have to wait for the other one to pop up out the sand.
