My pair of Pin Stripe Wrasse Pseudocheilinus evanidus I believe. Very difficult to catch a decent pic of them as they are always on the move.

Those are Pseudocheilinops ataenia, pink streak wrasses. They are smaller and more peaceful than pinstripes.

In the UK they are referred to as pinstripes inc the importers TMC but you may well be right about the Latin name, I will check it out.

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could tell me whether my Laboute wrasse is male or female please? I apologise for the poor quality of the picture but it hides if I get the camera anywhere near the tank so I could only get this on my phone. It hardly stays still for 2 seconds either. LOL!

Beautiful! Never seen one colored like that. Any chance it's a hybrid? Never seen a yellow body like that on a McCoskers.

After looking at my McCosker again, I see what you mean about the yellowness of the body. I would still say more of a lighter shade of orange though.

I have a 56 gal reef tank with a Frillfin Goby, Florida Blenny and 2 Snowflake Clowns. Could I keep a trio of fairy or flasher wrasses and if so, which would you recommend?

he survives thru all itch and tank crash and so on lol

Love seeing the Black Leopards and the Pseudocheilinops. I've had my pink streaky wrasse for a year now and its maybe an inch and a half long and its a weird fish, and I love when I see it in one of our nano's. He's surprisingly hard to see in even a tiny tank.

This one looks just like the pic you posted awhile back most of the time. When it was freshly imported and you approached the quarantine tank it would display these colors up close to the front glass for a few minutes and then retreat to the back of the tank with the paler colors. Maybe if it had a female to display to it would show these colors more often? It seemed more like an aggression thing though. Now it's been in the display for some time it is almost always the pale lilac color and will display the bright colors when threatened by the other fish. It's very docile and shy. It tends to stick near the back of the tank.

I don't bother with pairs anymore; females always transition to male eventually. Just having other wrasses, males of other species, will do the trick.

How long have you had your pink margin? Out of the 4 wrasses I have it's my favorite.

I agree on just having multiple males. My exquisite got so much better looking once he got into the 90 with other flashers and fairies. He tries to be the boss of the tank but he's really not what I would call agressive, just assertive. Everyone gets plenty to eat (they're all fat and healthy so I don't worry much) and no one wrasse is overly picked on.
