Is that a Flame Fairy and a Potter Leopard? Those are hard/impossible to find
Those are females or perhaps early transition

Haha yes it is. They are old pictures from when they were young and out of qt. Post was to have fun with others less educated or newer after the closing of Hawaii. I didn’t expect you around lol. Happy to see you.
Terrible photo but 4-5 years ago this was my experiment you kept pairs and it worked also the ones you kept some gave a good chance of working. You way of reefing and tank helps. I tried a trio as it’s safer also choats are not known to transition in captivity and I wanted to see it possible. they aren’t known because we never gave them a reason nor kept them long enough. This is my trio 30 minutes after being shipped they were fully qt’ed. medium sized turned male and the large one was all ready male and started to want to kill the one that transitioned so I sold large male kept the newly male and small female. Years later I shut down the tank but they are still doing great as I keep in touch with new owner
The one who tensioned I think was in early stages when collected but showed female patterns. I asked everyone who know wrasse that you know even but I was in undocumented phase. Wish i had picts like you to keep track like you with yours. Unlike all other wrasse Choats have female marking and the change happened subtly.

Did the flame transition?
Yes my wrasse transition fast. I was wrasse dominated and always gave them a reason to transition. Most wrasse common I can get to transition. We need to give them a reason. Wrasse I held with many others all want to be king. Match aggression with new fish with ones that are female and they will transition.
Think of it as survival of fittest. It’s having options on fish at right time that makes it little easier. Like a kid bullied at school. Of pushed he may just one day let the bully have it.

Here is my Male and Female Leopard

Your fish and pictures was huge influence to me about 7-8 years ago. Unlike most you showed me keeping impossible fish is possible.
Unlike you all my fish get fully qt’ed. I know you don’t and get why and respect it. I have never lost a fish in meds or a mystery death after qt. I also upgrade pften and start with sterile tanks and that plays a lot in fish and coral health. Anytime I had a fish with velvet the problem only showed of fish was on a more sterile environment

I have a lubbocks and a hooded flame. Ive had them both for a week now. They both appear to be female. They're both doing real well, I think. I posted a vid of them eating yesterday. I'm planning on 4 more wrasses, primarily fairies. I know I want a radiant though.

Both great fish. Also a H radiant are very chill fish and will highly recommend. Also a H yellow and H adorned in the same group. Radiants maroon is like a velvet cake. Amazing looking to me compared to other wrasse.

I highly removed younger females when getting wrasse and adding them in groups. Female and younger wrasse ship better, acclimate better and tend to get along with others better. As they transition it changes and chances go down. If they grow up together higher chance to work.

@cba191
One of the Lubbock variance is outstanding. In coloration. Exquisite too. Both of these are less expensive Fairies also.
How big is your tank?
Agree. Money doesn’t mean the prettiest. A Hemi flasher colors on captivity can suck. A diamondtail are similar but smaller and will always show good color as they do better in tank life vs a Hemi. And Hemi’s are known to be hokey grai.

I'm leaning towards an isosceles and a rubrimarginatus. And/or a pacific
isosceles Are great also. Exquisite. Are not a good option with what you have and want. Also watch the rubrimarginatus With what you have and want as it’s not your best option. A rhomboid on price your side. Would be a better fit

I really like the rhomboid and the lineatus, but they are spendy. And the lencelotus is basically unobtanium.
BTW, mt dt is 50g with a 20g sump and 7g refugium.

Lineatus are jerks. And pricey. 50 gallon is small or wrasse. I would watch adding more. Most fully grown and multiplies will be had as one wants more room. I would leave what you have. If you want to push luck more a radiant I would say or a yellow. If you got other fish in the 50 then it’s even less space. In a 50 o only keep one wrasse and keep them small to be fair to the fish. It’s you call. 4’ tanks and bigger is what I personally see a better fit
