Singles of both would be fine. Two females of the
same species is where problems arise. If they're different species, sex is not all that important of both.
@evolved Any trouble keeping a Cirrhilabrus solorensis and Halichoeres melanurus in the same tank. I already have a Paracheilinus carpenteri and Cirrhilabrus rubeus in the tank, any problems with either of those with the first 2? Looking at the inferiority complex thread I wouldn't think there would be a problem with the 2 Cirrhilabrus as they seem to be pretty seperated.
Well, all but the Paracheilinus do have some aggression potential. If the tank is large enough though, you should be okay.

The Halichoeres is far enough removed in relation it works, but you'd probably find the filamentosus to be outright incompatible with another Cirrhilabrus or Paracheilinus species.
I have a chance of getting a pencil wrasse. Has anyone had any experience with them? I read they will feed and adapt fine but then a few months in they just die or disappear. Are they aggressive toward other wrasses as I have a few fairies and flashers. Here she is at the store
That's a male, fwiw. Pencils are pretty passive in nature, and will do poorly if there's another fish in the tank that puts undue pressure on them.
I'm planning fish for a 100.3 system build and was curious,,, if I had a Christmas Wrasse and a Yellow Wrasse, then decided to add a smaller Four-line Wrasse later, do you think it would cause trouble?
I've never kept that combination.
Sounds like a recipe for WWIII. "Christmas wrasse" could mean at least 5 different species, and their aggression levels are not at all equal. Some species are not suitable. And then the fourline, as a Pseudocheilinus wrasse, is a whole other level of aggression on top. That whole genus should be avoided if you have other wrasses.
Hi,
I have a carpenteri flasher in the social acclimation box since saturday morning. Im a litle worried since it has been hiddig all this time.
I have several other wrasses (leopard, faery, halichoeres and wetmorella) and I have never seen such a shy wrasse.
Is this normal for flashers?
How many days shoul I expect for it to be in hiddig?

Flashers can sometimes be
very spooky, and it sounds like yours is. That can take several days and even up to a week to fade away.

You guys have some gorgeous examples of wrasses of all "stripe". I setting up a 32 gallon Biocube and really want a colorful wrasse. What wrasse, if any, would be appropriate long term in a 5 fish stocking plan and in what order? Thank you for your response.
IMO, the only suitable wrasses for a tank of that size are a Pink Streak wrasse or a Possum wrasse.
