What a beautiful specimen!

Thank you!! I received my Kuiter’s from you today. She hit the sand after a few minutes and now waiting for her to come out.

It's been a week since I received my Vivien. Was laying on her side when I received her but swam a bit when the acclimation box was moved. When I looked away she must have slipped out of the box and dug into the sand bed. I still will be hopeful until the 2 week mark

TSM. I was pretty hopfull due to the full QT. However, it was much smaller (1 1/4") than the one I got from them a year ago. I think for sensitive fish I am going to request exact size of fish and pass on any small specimens. Had same issue with another vendor with 3 ventralis that were 1" if that. Maybe I should just look to Elliott Lim or Dr.Reef.

a power-cut just happened and everything is alright (Luckily) but I came back to see this. My Pseudocheilinops ataenia in his mucous cocoon but not in the rocks, wonder if that’s due to him not knowing because of the power being out or if that’s just his place to sleep now.

Are these guys more readily available in the UK? I've been looking for one in the US for months.

I went there for 3 more Vivien’s but they only had two. I took the bigger one. Yours was smaller but looked good at TSM. More timid but nothing I was concerned about. She may have had a hard time traveling don’t loose hope! She ate great when I was there and they had her for along time in sterile tanks with bare bottom and pvc. No pods in their systems. TSM fish are very tough

I like them small as they seem to adapt better but like you said these were to small. My vivien’s all are late sleepers and go to bed early. My original one would not come out some days and some days she would. I always said to be that stunning they need their rest. That went on for months. I talked to Elliot about leopards and he said he won’t that they are to fragile and he isn’t equipped. I was looking for a trio of choats. Last week I preordered 3 from among the reef. Hope it works as I like their qt. No meds but antibiotics, gentle meds and TTM.

They’re definitely not a truly rare species. When they come in they’re in groups of 6-10. Usually come in around this time of year, so you may have better luck finding one. I found mine in April/may 20.

I hope they return! They seem to have a lot of character and are actually reasonably suitable for smallish tanks. I'd get a six line, but...I've had a six line before.

Hey there! Just wanted to post an updated pic of my guy. He’s HUGE and the boss of the tank for sure. He will eat out of my hand and splash water at me if I walk up to the tank without food when he’s hungry. Definitely a character. He loves the Flipper Deep Sea viewer thing too… I wonder if it has the same magnification effect when fish look through it as well? Either way, this guy is pushing 6” now.

I’ve never had a wrasse hide for weeks on end so I’m relatively lucky however I have had a similar fish (Tilefish) hide for 3 days and not come out to eat in them. I know how scary it can be whilst waiting, however many fish are extremely strong and once established don’t care about eachother. I agree with what Crabby has said in which you shouldn’t give up on the 2 week mark. I mean there are the few cases these fish can hide for months in the sand and come out acting like nothings happened.

Thank you! I’ve had him for about a year now, maybe a little less. He was at my LFS for a few months in QT before I took him home & he was already 3”+ then. I wish I knew how old he is!

My local fish from the two places I buy from don’t hide. Sand sleepers just act like then always lived in the tank. The melagris I got from a shady place vanished for a month.

Already putting the pintail in his place and he is a good 4 inches. Figures she comes out today with all this talk about her. Hmmm...what wrasse next.
