They often don't eat aquarium food and starve to death or, as you heard, they get so desperate for food they pester other fish and cause injury. I have a CB one and I encourage everyone to go that way as they are taught to eat frozen.

I’m getting it from a quarantine provider who will have it for 6 weeks before sending so I’m hoping for the best.

So I just resisted buying a small yellowtail A meleagrides. Question for the potential future if I get lucky again: How likely is a small anampses to get bullied? Do you think I'll be able if I were to use an acclimation box?

This would be for my peaceful but highly stocked reef.

I‘d be careful if you were to house the Harlequin Tusk with him, if the A. is small. Acclamation box is always good thx for the tip you guys lol.

Not going with the tusk. Tusk is in the predator tank if I get one. My question is 1.5" to 2" tamarin amongst a variety of mostly peaceful 3" wrasse. Also probably a big tamarin.

When I introduced my A. neoguinaicus she was about that same size and was completely ignored by everyone. I don't recall you having any pushy wrasses so I think it'd be fine.

Compatability check....I'm interested in adding a Royal Pencil Wrasse (Pseudojuloides severnsi) to my tank. Is it OK?

Currently have the following in my 225g mixed reef system:

Gem tang
Blonde Naso tang
White tail bristletooth tang
Orange shoulder tang

Melanarus wrasse (oldest fish and has never had a problem with anyone...he's strangely nice)
Radiant wrasse
Exquisite wrasse
Male rhomboid wrasse

Midas blenny
Royal gramma
Male Genicanthus bellus
Male and female Lyretail anthias

Seems pretty good loving your stocking choices! Don’t see any real potential problems besides maybe some aggression and extra curiosity from your irids and melanurus at the beginning. Don’t think the tangs would bug it but hey tangs are tangs.

They have the same jaw sensitivity of tamarin and leopard wrasse with many not eating and wasting away. They are also quite sensitive and can be very shy. The book I use lists them as very difficult and even more difficult than either tamarin or leopard wrasse. Not for the inexperienced.

Agree with @Slocke if you do go down this route I would recommend having a good good amount of experience with sensitive fish. Really rare to come by and you don’t want to lose it almost immediately after you buy it.

If I get one it would come from a QT vendor so would have at least 30 days of being treated and conditioned to tank life. Would you feel more comfortable knowing it had survived that process and was “proven” to be eating in a tank setting?

Yes and I'd ask if they'd put a bit of sand in the bag.

Anyone have a Yellow-Flanked Fairy Wrasse?

Unfortunately our GORGEOUS pintail fairy decided to jump last night, so I'm looking at new wrasses. We have a ton of yellow in our tank already, so a yellow corris is ruled out. We had one doing great in our tank, but I haven't seen it in a month now, so I'm considering it gone also.

Currently have a Melanarus, Lubbocks Fairy, and a Blue Star Leopard. All 3 doing well and get along. Whenever we introduce new wrasses, except for the leopard, the Mel is pretty aggressive the first few days and then settles.

So with that, I'm looking at:
Yellow-Flanked Fairy Wrasse
Another Pintail Fairy
McCoskers Flasher

Any others we should be looking at? We don't have much orange/red in the tank, so the McCoskers would definitely be a good fit.

Tank is a 125 mixed reef.
