Hi everyone, I’m at the fish store and they have a beautiful exquisite wrasse. I’ve never owned of these guys.
Are they generally the peaceful? I want to get it, but not if it’ll be a jerk to my rhomboid and pink streaks
Hope you’re still there as you could come home with a new wrasse :)
Exquisitus is likely to be the best fairy for being peaceful.

Just got home from the store. Fish is looking pretty dang good. Never had a fish that was out swimming in the bag, and now out and curious in the drip container. Still showing stress colors, but still showing some nice color and not hiding at all!

Looks like an African variant! I agree with the others. They really are the perfect fairy.

IMO the pretties variant! Nice find!

I tried to place it in the “friend zone” acclimation box but it jumped out before I could put the lid on. It didn’t run and hide whatsoever and is just out hanging out with the other fish. Never had a fish do this, they always hide for at least a little.

Just woofed down 5 or 6 mysis and some ROE. Weird seeing it so comfortable, but I guess that is a good thing :)

We need a build thread from you!

Never made one because my tank is basically just full of rock flowers and gorgonians haha. Maybe I’ll give it a try and start one.
So!? I’m sure that would look neat and we would all love it! ESPECIALLY with all the wrasse in there ;)

Friends, I have a question. May be a stupid question, but I don't really care.

Why is a Mystery Wrasse a "mystery"?
What is nerd word for them? @i cant think @Petcrazyson @SaltyT
There was a really cute one with a pretty pale pink body and cute yellow face at my LFS today. I tried to ask @Crabby48 but he wasn't any help, he was distracted.
Just curious about the origin of the name. I'm a nerd too.

Maybe the mystery is why a fish with very few spots is called “spotted” at least the other wrasse in the genus make sense. Tetrataenia, hexataenia, octataenia meaning 4 lined, 6, and 8 respectively.

That’s a lot more than just one question ;)

I‘m sure there is a true reason why they are called Mystery from whoever named the type of wrasse, but I’ve always believed it’s from their unpredictable personality. You can get a some nice ones, but lots of them are very Ill tempered and killer-ly aggressive, and very secretive, loves to chow down on anything or barely anything and lots more experiences. Again just what I thought so don’t take it as fact lol. Also thought of it as a Mystery because idk how a fish can look so beautiful and so ugly at the same time :face-with-tears-of-joy:

Nerd word for them? Hmmmm…can it be a silly hobbyist nerd word? I‘d say True Pink Multicolored unusual face wrasse…..lol
