Beautiful fish. They can be so hard to get photos of. Mine always hide when I get my phone out. The only good photos I have of them are when they’re in the acclimation box. Haha
The struggle is real. Mine go high and lights wash them out or along back wall. Thought about taping my old phone on the side of the glass. Figured they might get use to it.

Thank you but Was. After 4-5 tanks and collecting very special stock I year 2022 came along. It’s started with daily life black cloud then rushing tank maintenance I startled Potters. Jumped 3-4 foot before hitting a tank. Show over in minutes. Fast foward couple months I moved all fish to new 220 finally. Achiles got few spots of ich. Wasn’t to concerned but then in a couple weeks I lost all wrasse except flame and trio of choati. But tangs are good except a gem tang that I suspect was the problem.
Ouch :(. Sounds like the massive flukes outbreak I had 6 months ago due to a leopard slipping through vendors qt. Massive stocking losses. Hopefully you didn't loose anything that you cant replace.

I need to set up my tripod and 35mm and just photograph them the right way, lol. My other half has a iphone 13 iirc and it takes legit photos, my android sucks at it.

The red velvet can be a bully, especially towards the lineatus. I would drop that one. If you want some orangy-red look at a magma, hooded flame, or pintail (isosceles).
IMHO, you don’t actually know how they’ll behave till you try it (Obviously that’s if you have a way to separate the aggressor first).

Terrible pictures but it’s what I got. I’ll work on getting better ones of the choati. Potters always flashes but when phone is out he lowers the front of the dorsal the red spot on front dorsal is my favorite part

My Pencil Wrasse got a hold of a chunk of reef frenzy that was too big for him (one of those stubborn pieces that just wouldn't break up) and he led the fish on a chase around the tank for a bit (I was surprised by the eventual winner, since he usually gets beaten to the punch when it comes to food):

Can collect for yourself. Potters might be off limit. I thought about going on vacation and shipping back to me but my life insurance policy doesn’t think I’m worth that much money if I fake my death.

Love when under dog gets bold with the parade lap
One of the 4 local collectors is supposedly resubmitting his permit in September.
Guy on fb is going to Hawaii and collecting. He is taking orders. That is the biggest reason things will stay closed. You can collect on vacation as a hobbiest for yourself.

That’s the big issue, the cost to do it. Although there are some hawaiian endemics that look stunning, one personal favourite being Anampses chyrsocephalus.

I have a full grown negrosensis, but as most in this thread, I suck at pictures. Or rather my fish never seem to stay out when I'm near the tank with my phone.

My moyers seems to have grown a spine, she even chases the lemon peel now!

Quite comical to watch as it now chases every fish in the tank, except the tank boss( Yellow corris).

I gave up on fish pics a long time ago and switched to short videos. So much easier.

Some bad photos but here is the flasher that has yet to display… The anal fin is confusing me along with the dorsal. In person it’s a red back to the dorsal and a yellow front to it.

Yeah, I’d say it’s possibly that. Wish I could get a better picture of him if not see him display in person. I do feel like there’s a missing piece as my LFS I got him from is trustworthy and has gotten a photo of him displaying before which is where he went blues, purples ect…
