The Wrasse Lover's Thread!

Wish I could get good pics of my gang.

I sit here on my couch about 10 feet from my tank, and of course they are all out and playing. Even the moyers comes out to play with the others now, and the melagris leaves it alone!

Soon as I get up off the couch, BAM they all disappear into the rocks or sand! Can never seem to get a good pic. Might have to get a telescopic lens and a decent camera so I can shoot pics from the couch. lol
My wrasses hate photos… well, most of them do. My naoko is WAY too personable. He will happily let you pet him when your hands are in the tank, he will swim in and out of my fingers almost playing. He loves to photobomb though, which is a pain when it comes to getting a good photo of my Flasher and I finally get one and then the naoko’s face is just covering half the flasher.

Many people have that problem. Now fish aren’t the smartest animals out there...but you can’t tell me they don’t know what a camera is…anyone who has tried to take a picture of their tank knows this.

Yeah, I'm planning to move the radiant and the rest of the fish should be able to handle themselves. Triggers, maroon clown, foxface, eels. That's the plan at least.
Move the radiant?!!! That is one of the nicest/desirable wrasses there is. You can move it to my tank;)

Move it to my reef tank haha. It'd be in there already if not for me not knowing it would probably get along with the melanarus.

Could I mix a radiant wrasse with a malanarus?
My malanarus is very friendly
Yes you can mix those two, just be warned that the iridis may become the boss. While they don’t push out nasty aggression, they definitely aren’t 100% peaceful.

Put it this way, my Halichoeres chloropterus is meant to be aggressive. Instead he is put into his spot by my Halichoeres iridis.

I wouldn't have expected this.
I don’t think anyone did! I wish I could time when it happens to get a video of the Jade just happily swimming and the Iridis throwing shade at him.

Okay, I’m now really confused. I was under the belief that Pseudocheilinops ataenia doesn’t make a mucous cocoon. However I woke up early this morning and found exactly 3 spots where it seems a mucous cocoon was formed. I never noticed this with my first guy but that’s because I had a Cirrhilabrus in the same tank with him.

A phew photos of the big guys, the smaller guys are to come. The pinkies are just… difficult.
The green has began to fade towards the back and now the jade is pushing a white line from the belly to the caudal fin.

Well, not the best photo but hey they’re called cryptic wrasses for a reason. This photo shows two of them however I do still have the trio :)
One is incredibly smaller than the other two but there has always been that way however it doesn’t seem to harm the smaller guy, they all eat the same amount. All three remain fat after every feed so I’m not really concerned about the extreme size difference.

I look forward to seeing more of that beauty ;)
I’m surprised you didn’t go for a trio of them and only went for a single specimen. It’ll be fun to see how a single specimen reacts compared to a trio.

Thanks! I got him from an online vendor not locally so that was a factor. I have plans for some maxi minis and sexy shrimp, but otherwise I'm not entirely sure what else I'll put in there with him. This is primarily going to be a coral grow out tank with a few permanent residents.

Help out with ident, please! Lean is Halichoeres margaritaceus (Pearly Wrasse)

Halichoeres argus. He's young and still developing his colors. He also looks like he needs to be fattened up some.
