Paracheilinus nursalim: WOW

So I’ve been looking them up and there seem to be so many variations in colors. Is that because it’s from different places? Or it’s not a terminal or still transitioning?

Like that’s the same fish right?

I keep wishing for Halichoeres rubricephalus

but no one seems to be collecting them.
I’m still try on both these fish. I have someone going to try and get the Diamond tails next year. I don’t have much hope but will keep begging on both of those fish

That was one on my list up until i lost my Hemi. One of my favorite flashers.

Some of my favourites from your list:

Cirrhilabrus roseafascia: LFS has a group of these in quarantine and I am tempted on one.

Paracheilinus hemitaeniatus: :star-struck:

Pseudojuloides crux: WOW

I know right, they’re gorgeous and even more so in person. The only one out of those three I’ve yet to see in person is the Nursalim Flasher, the other two were in my LFS that specialises in rarer fish.

No male flashers will look exactly alike there are always some variations within each species.
Right. It’s just some of those look like a whole different fish if it weren’t for the same shape,

Yeah some of those are different fish they're mislabeled.

Is this a Yellow Shoulder Pencil Wrasse?

Yep, that's it. If you enjoy pencil wrasses I can PM you a document that goes over the entire Pseudojuloides cerasinus complex?

It’s likely due to the way they were photographed as well as the variation between males. Then you also have the issue of sellers misidentifying species.

That is a Pseudojuloides xanthomos which is in fact rarer as it’s a Mauritius endemic species. Although not the rarest, that goes to Crux, Labyrinthus, Atavai ect.

That pic also looks older doesn’t it?

Where do you guys find new wrasses that you like?
If you mean like how we find the wrasses that we like in terms of how we find out about them then it’s often a lot of research and going through all 800 pages of this thread.
If you mean on how we obtain them then it’s often just luck of the draw and hoping that wherever we get our fish from has them in.

Hey everyone! I have made some significant changes to my setup and decided a couple weeks ago to go with a mainly wrasse fowlr. I previously had a 9 inch green bird wrasse for years that just decided he wouldn't get along with anyone anymore. After a lot of help from @SaltyT , I decided to rehome him and since he was my favorite fish I wanted a smaller one. I got rid of a lot of my bigger more aggressive fish and decided to replace with some smaller wrasses that will end up big again someday. I wanted to share my tank with you since I have 4 wrasses in there. I added a smaller green bird, a banana, a cuban hogfish, and already had a giant orangeback fairy. Hope you all enjoy.
