I have a pair raised from baby. They are trouble free and not agressive, but hold their own and won't get bully. I have a large tank, so behavior in small tanks may be different.
1st one in my QT only about 1.25 inch

Growing up

2nd one when I first got her in QT, even smaller than the first one

Full breeding female (2nd one)

The pair spawned

Awesome!! Thank you!! So pretty. Mine will be going in a 120. Just hadn’t heard much about them personality/aggression wise and needed to know before I even considered. Def on my list now. Lol. Thank you. And still jealous of the beautiful Diamond tail as I’m sure everyone here is. Lol.

The only greenish one I have is the Hardwicke. And he's already been named Liberace.
So a new one! Wish I could have a green bird wrasse. They're super neat looking!

I’ve come this close to a dragon wrasse a couple times. That would be my dream green wrasse. It’s probably a bad idea though.

Yeah, they had a juv. dragon and Formosa that were gorgeous.
@Crabby48 kindly let me know they will get way too large for my tank and will destroy any and all CUC. So they were much easier to say no to. The colors were beautiful though

My LFS has a juvenile Dragon and I always look at it… I just wish I had a 7’ tank with rockwork that was drilled down.

I have a juvenile Coris Gaimard which I believe is the closest relative to Formosa. I am very excited/hopeful to see it progress through its life stages as it is beautiful throughout.

Also, for anyone who owns a Chloropterus do you know what the males look like?
I cant find a 100% colour morph of the males, they’re all completely different from eachother. Some are half green, some are white, some are silver with a black splotch, ect. @SaltyT you seem to think they get ugly as adults, have you seen a mature male?

Jason Kelce is the Captain/Center and my all time fave, but I already have a chicken named Kelce.
I do like the Melanurus. I did make the mistake of adding one, alone, a couple weeks ago. It didn't make it through the night though. I think Goldfinger may have tormented it to death and I found it eaten by my gluttonous BTAs. Would it be too late in the game to add a single wrasse? Would I end up with the same outcome, with all the new additions?

So, here are my favorites.

Halichoeres biocellatus - LFS had a red-lined wrasse last week when I was there, was very small and very red still.
Halichoeres argus - some of these are really pretty.
halichoeres vrolikii - I really love this one! I've always been a fan of pinstripes

I did post a photo of a very mature male leopard they had, was stunning. Not something I could get that mature though.

Yep, I‘ve seen 2 adult Chloropterus in my clients’ tanks that were big and brownish gray. They were older males and had lost all that green that I’ve seen on young males. Their faces still had the pink stripes though.

edited to add: they also had the dorsal and anal fin stripes, not just the facial stripes.
