As for the Labridae confusion here’s a break down of the family;

You have the main family that covers everything Wrasses, Hogfish, Parrotfish.
Then that main family is split into 2 subfamilies, Bodianidae and Scaridae which hold the Hogfish and Parrotfish.
Then these 3 (sub)families are split into several genera depending on the family and we tend to easily identify which subfamily has which fish from the names we give them;
Parrotfish = Scaridae
Hogfish = Bodianidae
Wrasses = Labridae

Yours looks to be the Vanuatu variant - The one photoed is a rather good specimen however I’ve yet to see a specimen in captivity that nicely presented.

I want to see if I can get some help from some wrasse experts here. I got this wrasse in Qt at the moment. The store sold it as a “purple wrasse”. I have never seen or heard of that wrasse. There is also zero information on it online. The tail is yellow and black with a deep purple base body and it looks like it has some blue speckles under the purple body. The face seems to be transitioning with a light turquoise’s stipe. Anyone have a name or ID for this wrasse? Been in full copper for 3 weeks and eats like a champ. Tanks in advance !

Chiseltooth wrasse, Pseudodax moluccanus, a mostly peaceful but fairly large wrasse. May go after inverts. They can be a little on the sensitive side like Anampses/tamarin wrasse.

Seems to be Pseudodax moluccanus. These guys can get on the bigger side.

Looks a bit skinny. You can see the pinched musculature over the eyes in the photo. Definitely feed it well and deworm with at least prazi. I'd recommend a broad spectrum dewormer as well.

Hologymnosus Rhodonotus or Doliatus - I bought this as a Rhodonotus and would be happy if it is (seem to be rare) - however i am in doubt it might be H. Dolitus ?

Not easy to find juvenile picture to rule out one or another, but in my head the Rhodonotus would likely be more red in the eye and perhaps yellow fins on the rims - the one i have seem to have transparent fins along the top and bottom and some yellow on lower tail only.

If anyone can ID id be happy - however , time will tell as it grow out .

My ataenia showing the ropes to the new wetmorella. The lubbocki came in moribund and didn’t get past acclamation was really hoping for it to make it. The coloration was great on it.

Looks to be Rhodonotus to me. Doliatus is much more redder on the striping than Rhodonotus.

The wetmorella is beautiful, such a shame about the lubbocki but Atleast one survived shipping!

I might have to go back for it later this week. Decided to stop at a couple other LFS first before buying it and glad I did. Came home with 5 gorgeous $10 Acros and 2 new wrasses!

White light photos of that Gold Nugget are a must. They look **** under blues ;)

Also, which tank is she going into? I assume the hog is going into the monster gang and the xeni into the reef.
