The Wrasse Lover's Thread!

Looks great. Hope he does well. Did he meet dusky?
No, Lemmy was busy eating. Fatty.
Joey B ran away from Tarja (coral beauty) and is in the sand. I know where he is though.

Please leave him be. Earmuffs are big teddy bears. Just watch CB doesn’t keep him hiding. You know the deal from what you dealt with the dusky

Let's welcome Joey B to the crew!

Yeah the females have 3 black dots along the dorsal fin. This person has some photos of a pair of females:

Planning stock for the 50gallon. Any concerns with a Flame Hawkfish and or Cherub Angel with Pink Streak Wrasse and Yellow banded Possum Wrasse?
I would say there is a chance both fish could make it hard for the wrasse to settle in. As with adding any fish to established fish there is a chance of bullying. Both wrasse you looking at need some time to settle. Should work but be prepared. I would recommend adding both wrasse at same time.

It highly depends on whether the hawk and Angel are established already.
If they are, I’d personally avoid the wrasses altogether. I’ve tried to add a pink streak to a tank with an aggressive blenny previously and even just the small amount of aggression lead that pink streak to her demise. Even in fish stores, I’ve had this issue where the pinks just end up stressing and dying. The possums are exactly the same with this issue.

My cherub left my pink streak alone. However, the cherub will constantly be working the rock and if he decides he doesn’t like the wrasses there will be no rest for them. I also don’t like the idea of a bullyish fish like the hawk in a smaller tank that will house any peaceful fish.

Thanks guys for the input. I already have the two wrasses in a 20g but planning future additions for the 50g. I think skipping the hawk might be the best. Maybe try the Cherub, as I really like this one and re-home if any issue arise (coral or fish). Other planned additions are peaceful.

Should I drive around to see what wrasse I can put in qt with blue spot and DT today? Really sucks I can’t find a bells to qt with DT. Really need one to help spread the aggression from earl, yellowfin and Hemi and only make adding a bells later impossible. No matter how many people you know and no matter how good of connections they have it’s still hard to be entitled to get what you want and when you want it

I was shocked at how my blue flasher wasn’t bullied at all. My McCoskers was and this one is skinnier and frailer. It’s always a surprise with each wrasse I add.
Xenojulis - bullied by timor (ended after two days)
YT tamarin - bullied by BS cleaner ( BSCW moved to other tank)
McCoskers - bullied by pink streak (MCFW MIA)

Fairy’s and flashers always have a problem if I don’t over stock them all just a little stressed

Another behaviour I've never seen from a different species. I scared the dragon wrasse while adjusting the light for pictures. It buried itself then peaked out. I don't know if you can tell buts in the sand with just its head peaking out. Someone here needs do get a sea grass these guys are so fun!

Sea Grass Wrasses have always been on my look out for list, their personalities are unmatched. Unfortunately I couldn’t find one so I went for the second best thing I could - a Jade. 4 years later I’ve only seen one sea grass wrasse.

Also I love that regal’s misbar head markings.
