The Wrasse Lover's Thread!

Still trying to figure out video on this board. I'm on an iPhone, lol.

Let's see if the non-inserted version works...
Awww Shes so cute!!

I can download them that way but really the only way to make it so everyone can see it is to upload to youtube.

Little late but here’s my tribute to wrasse Wednesday. Truly do miss this guy, so beautiful and peaceful. Added lots of activity and colour to the tank!

Ordered these two for next Tuesday delivery. From Blue Zoo. Plus a Blue Eye Tang and a freebie Lawnmower Blenny.

Great selection Steve! I'm a bit biased though. I am surprised by the size of the H. chrysus though. A 1.5"-2" H. chrysus looks like it could fly through a mesh lid.

Well then , I’ll just to feed it well to get it too fat to slip thru lol

You’d be surprised, my Iridis was ~1” when I got him and my mesh looked big enough for her to fit through but she didn’t jump. I’ve found Halichoeres don’t jump much at all once settled and even then during the settling period they rarely jump. Although I still wouldn’t risk one in a lidless tank.

Here's hoping.

Update: Mb (Jasmine) and Hc (Amita) are now in the DT!

Ended up draining half the tank water, using a clear tupper to shepherd them, then going hands in to pick them up. Perhaps not the smoothest method, but going hands let me put them right by the sand instead of bumping into anemones and everything else with the tupper. Unfortunately, the Mb jumped en route and landed on the carpet. Scooped her up in hand and put her right next to the sand. She dove in immediately. Hc was a bit more suave about it. Took a short stroll around, got spooked by the clowns, went in a cave then into the sand. Will give them some time to adjust. Overall, I'd rate the peformance a 4/10.

She jumped because you didn’t write anything on your fingers.

I’ve never bought from them, but I do receive their mailing list. For people looking for pink streaks, I figured I’d share.

This is the cheapest I’ve seen pink streaks:

I am tempted but the last several batches of anthias from them died in QT of uronema. I consider them the new overpriced LA. Ask @Crabby48 what he thinks.

Which for them is very unusual

Surprised to see the price, to the point I was thinking “seems too good to be true” haha.

Yeah, between their prices and the stories I’ve heard from people here, I don’t know that I’d go with them. But then again, it might be worth the try for people who haven’t been able to find them, especially at a price like this.

Two medium size for $100 + shipping may be worth the risk.

My experience:
TLDR: their customer service is slow and garbage and the one fish I got was basically dead.

Ordered an Anampses cearulepunctatus. It arrived alive but floating upside down. I managed to keep it alive for one week by tube feeding until I eventually tried surgery which was successfully but the fish didn't survive the night.
I left a mediocre review and to their credit they offered me a refund (minus shipping) however it was in the form of a store credit gift card that expired after one month. I was away for a few weeks so had to order something quick so I tried again with the cearulepunctatus. I ordered and heard nothing from them for a week. Finally I emailed just to hear, a few days later, that they had run out of stock. but hadn't bothered to inform me. So I asked them to cancel and refund me. They refunded the shipping this time but sent the rest back to the gift card which had expired and they refused to give me a new one. At no point did they apologize or seem to remotely care about their products or customers.

As a counterpoint I once had a similar issue with Biota where they also had a stocking issue but they immediately apologized, refunded me, and then emailed me when the fish was back in stock.

Such a shame when a once good vendor goes downhill. They went from QT'ing their fish, to conditioning their fish, to just flipping their fish.
