I'm waiting on a pink streak and a C. rubeus! They're harder to find, and I specifically want juvenile females so I can track their transitions.

I have seen both at DR Reef, Not sure if the C Rubeus is female pic is male.... But they may have some?

I did see that, but I'm going to try picking up a locally QTd pair of wrasses and drive them over, hopefully a bit less stressful. Not in a rush, so no worries. I'd love a pair of pinkies, but I think the Cr and pinkie is already overstocking as it is--only considering it since I'm running near zero nitrates and would rather feed more fish (which are already eating like pigs) than dose nitrates.

That is probably the prettiest flasher ive ever seen! Though I have a question for you, are all wrasses coral safe?

Most wrasses are coral safe - All Flashers, Fairies, Tamarins, Leopards, Pencils and Hali’s are safe. Some of the larger relatives (Hogs and Parrots) can be more risky as they do use coral and rocks to smash their prey open.

And yep, it’s currently midnight for me :)

Are thalassoma wrasse coral safe? Also didn't know parrots were wrasses lol

There are genera of wrasse that only eat corals. Such as the tubelip.

Looking on the Hawaii state website, pretty much all fish are open to hobbyists catching for our own tanks - just not to sell.

Here is a before and after of rhomboid after a little over 6 months. Just sharing because the transition is cool, and quite pronounced. Something satisfying to my primate brain seeing something grow big and strong and all that.

These are from April when I got her:

So saw an incredible wrasse today, Stethojulis balteata, look it up and those cyan lines are insane in person! Among the usual I saw both male and female bird wrasse. An absolutely massive Thalassoma trilobatum, probably a good foot in length. Bodianus albotaeniatus and of course the fore mentioned Hawaiian clenaers. Also forgot to mention the Pseudocheilinus evanidus and the species of ugly wrasse aka iniistius wrasse I’ve seen probably I pavo or celebiscus.

There is a wrasse I cannot ID though. It is fairly standard in shape and it’s only significant detail is a bright yellow but small spot right where the pectoral fin attaches to the side.

So you can go to Hawaii, collect your own fish and take them back with you as long as you don’t sell them?

Group trip to Hawaii anyone?
