Nahacky wrasse pair (Cirrhilabrus nahackyi) are in the acclimation box. They are getting more comfortable and can hopefully be released soon.

Wow. Where did you find these? Just an FYI wrasses of the cirhilabrus genus don’t pair. Eventually they will transition and fight.

I got them at a LFS that sells quarantined fish.
That is good to know. I will watch as they mature a bit and if I start seeing aggression I will separate them.

I’m going to be honest and say they look more like 2 males than a true pair - females lack most of the colour you see in those two.
These are females of Nahackyi (neither photo is mine).

Maybe this photo is better. You can see one has the yellow tail and the other has a more red tail. I’m going to try and see if I can make a better determination before releasing them from the acclimation box.

Got my Bell’s yesterday and was super worried as he was on the bottom in a corner all day/evening until I went to bed. Thought for sure he was just going to stress out and die.

He’s alive this morning and swimming very close/in the rocks, obviously stressed still but at least alive and comfortable enough to not be wedged in a corner, might have even seen him nip at some food.

I have seen my Pintail get pretty up in his face pretty quickly a few times, hope it’s just brief acclimation and nothing that’s going to lead to the little Bell’s death.

Didn’t expect to have any issue with the Pintail, but what do you all think? Temporary or is it looking grim?

Pintail is not an aggressive wrasse. However, I would have used an acclimation box for a costly wrasse like that. Just keep an eye on the two.

Bells are very dramatic and lay on the bottom stressed in qt.
Watch the pintail. If he is established he may take the opportunity to keep bells stressed or could just beat him up.
Had a pintail destroy a full size lineatus. More peaceful wrasse doesn’t mean they are always more peaceful but that they stress more and don’t always have what it takes to hang with wrasse not as stressed or more pushy.
If the pintail feels threatened he will be a jerk

Watch them close and hope for the best but plan for the worse.

The LFS has a nice looking Pintail Fairy and a Cresent Tail, thinking about possibly swapping the Redfin Fairy for either of those.

Im still waiting for them to hit the UK, been keeping room in the collection for a few wrasse again;
- Laboutei (maybe soon… I’m unsure though if I’ll pull the trigger yet).
- Vivien’s
- Kuiteri
- Pencils (yes, I want more - especially a female Kaleidos or 2).

But hey, until then I’m happy with my 19 wrasses :)

I’d love a lunatus but they’re almost matching with a female hemitaeniatus in price over here around the 200 mark. It’s one reason I went brunneus, although I’d maybe be tempted by a squirei.

Caught the Bell's swimming in the water column once yesterday, and he's been popping out from the rocks to eat pretty well... Not to get too excited, but seems a good indicator to me so far as it's only been 48 hours since he hit my tank... Fingers still crossed and hoping they are able to come to an amicable arrangement.

They get nasty with age. They seem to only come around this time of year if I remember correctly You got a nice stick list. Just watch as they mature some males might l turn and be a problem. Gives a spot for another wrasse lol.

If he up and eating and not stressed on sand that’s a very good start. Hope he is a show winner for you
Wrasse aggression can be controlled by us. It’s sometimes a lot of work and time depending how bad they are.

I wish, but my tank is only 3’. From what I read the Cresent stays smaller, some say 3.5” so that might influence my decision if I decide to get a replacement.

The LFS have them listed at 125 and 150. They mentioned I can get 30% of what I paid for the Redfin, which I don’t recall how much it was.

If I saw a female H. rubricephalus I wouldn’t argue one bit. It’s a pain you only see males…
