Need my fellow wrasse lovers help/opinions, is this a true male and female exquisitus or is this female a Pacific male? I’ll get some better photos in the morning of them - currently they’re at the shop settling down.

Or are they even both exquisitus? Obviously the male is, but could the female be something else?

Heard of them, but they are so scarce in the hobby that this may be the first time they’ve entered it on a larger scale.

I’d treat them on a similar scale to H. iridis in being sensitive to shipping and likely finicky to feed.

My Pink Streak female - these two have become highly camera shy since having a 3 foot tank filled with macro to hide from the camera. But they still follow me around when I’m next to the system.

I'm planning a new 5' 125 gallon, that means more Wrasses! So excited!

I should have ample room for a few more Wrasses.

Currently have a Rhomboid and two Flashers.

Looking to add a Lineatus, Isosceles, and a Chrysus to the mix.

Think I'll have any problems?

Wrasse are for sure my favorite fish in the hobby. When I set up my new tank, I knew I wanted it to be wrasse heavy. I’m pretty happy with my “collection” thus far.

I have completed stocking of a 170 gallon mixed reef other than wrasses. I would like to find 3 compatible cool looking wrasses as my final fish. If you have any recommendations and/or know of anybody selling or rehoming some great wrasses, please let me know. I am in Orange County, California.

Hey! So this is actually a male Paracheilinus flavianalis - Yellow Fin Flasher. These are quite often mixed up with the Carpenteri just through the differences often being somewhat minor.

Well, I’m back in the wrasse game officially now! The 5 foot has finished its cycle and got its first two wrasses today;
Cirrhilabrus katherinae
Halichoeres leucoxanthus

And the plan is tomorrow I bring back my juvenile H. iridis then leave it for a couple of days (more likely at the minimum, a week) to see how everything goes!

Yep! Flavianalis. These key indicator is the yellow anal fin, but another way I tend to work it out is the filaments are red - Carpenteri has an anal fin much more likely that of the McCoskeri where it’s a dual colour and not a solid colour.

Very interesting. I'm not sure if its just because he's new to the tank but he rarely ever puts his fins up.
