Hey everyone.
I have had a blue star wrasse for about 16 months now and a yellow corris wrasse for almost two years now. Well a week ago I saw my first male black fin McCorsker wrasse and had to have it. Well now he is in my tank eating well (even pellets) and out all day. My question is do I add a female and if so does it have to be a black fin or can it be a standard McCorsker. I will get pic's up soon.

A little more info on my tank is it is a red sea max 250 (65 gal)
Livestock.
2 lyretail anthias
2 Clowns
1 yellow watchman goby
1 red sea sailfin tang
and the above wrasses.

This tank is a mix reef with sps and lps corals

Thanks in advance

Don't bother with the female even if you can find one, you'll end up with two females in the long run.

So I'm thinking of adding another wrasse to my tank but I'm not sure if I can since my six line is a *****. He has chased out a two spot candy hogfish and kill a royal gramma. Any suggestions on what to go with him ?

Just to clarify, Brett meant to say you would end up with two males, not females. And I agree with him, stick with just the male!

Just throwing this out there that I think your tank is already fully stocked as is. Sounds like a nice active tank, but especially with the Sailfin in there, I would not recommend adding anything more. But post up some pics of your wrasses if you haven't already :)

Honestly, nothing. Hogfish are not the most "peaceful" fish (and a Royal Gramma can hold its territory just fine usually), so if it already can't be with those fish, then another wrasse would not have a chance. Either catch and re-home it or stick with it. They are beautiful little fish, but man are they mean buggers! What size tank is it?

A 75g. They were in a 55g together but shortly after I moved into the 75g the hog jumped (didn't run lids on the 55g either). A month goes by and I find that the six line is keeping the gramma in holes. Any time he would come out of said hole the six line would nail him. Had them all together for almost a year.
Far as other fish I have a pair of snowflake clowns, sohal tang, purple tang and a painted scorpion fish

Thanks Marshall O.
I will try and get some updated pics. Yes the tank is a very active tank. Even though it has a high bio load before a weekly water change I have almost if not a 0 nitrate reading. As for the sailfin he is small and I will be upgrading to a 200+ cube within the next 12 months. If i do not I already have a home for the sailfin when he out grows this tank.
Here are a few old pics

I already typed up a nice long response, then closed out my window :( Anyways, my first suggestion is that you need to get a top on the tank. Six Lines (and any wrasse for that matter) are jumpers and it will only be time. Clowns have also been known to jump. Once you get it covered, then the decision is whether to keep the Six Line or not. If you keep him, I think you are stuck with the group you have now. If you re-home him, the next issue is that you have all fish that are more on the aggressive side, especially the Sohal Tang. What was the last fish you added, and what was the response from the tank mates?

Thanks Marshall O.

200 gallon cube sounds awesome! And beautiful wrasses :) I do love the black fin McCoskers!
