Om live aquaria its showing to be a solon fairy or many other named same style fish. It looks like to me its one of those same fish different names kind of fish. Lol. But thank you all for the name help. I never get it right. And trust me I have tried multiple times.

That photo you're referring to is incorrect.

A female solorensis, which has the same basic colors as this fish, has them much more muted and not nearly as clearly defined. Also, the above fish has longer ventral fins than a feale solorensis.

Not trying to sound like a complete idiot. However are we talking about my post with the above pic? It looks nothing like mine. I will see if I can get a better pic of her if need be but she looks identical to the solon fairy wrasse on liveaquaria

The LA photo is incorrect. The above photo, by Tanaka, has the correct depiction of a male/female C. solorensis.
Clearly, not what you have. :)

Thanks. My fish is definitely much older and closer to the adult coloration.

Is anyone familiar with linespot flashers? I was wondering if the filaments are only present in adult males? I picked up one a few months ago and it doesn't have any. It is starting to flash in the evenings though.

Females do not have the filaments, but it sounds like yours is beginning to transition from female to male so they should be starting to develop soon.

Just picked up an absolutely stunning male hovens wrasse, he's currently hanging out in my sand bed so I took this pic before I put him in the tank as I knew he would have sand seeking vision upon entry to the tank I will get better pics when he comes out in the next week or so

Most fairies and flashers will leave leopards alone. IME established leopards hold their own pretty well

Yea +1 to that my potters leopard was the first in the tank and he dosent take anything from anyone yet he's not aggressive to other fish but he can hold his own against the new additions that try and give him any problems, just like the above fairys and flashers will leave them alone

Sorry to hijack/late post on this thread. I've been looking for wrasse advice and can't seem to find any. Everyone one on here seems to know a lot about wrasses. I would love to keep a few in my 120g and was looking for recommendations and to which ones would go well together and what order to add them. So far I have found and liked earmuff, kuiters leopard, mystery, pearly wrasse, or anything else you could recommend. I have tons of live rock for them to play in, lots of open sand for sand dwellers, and tons of pods for them to snack on. Tank has be up and stable for a little over 4 months. Any and all advice is welcome. I want to do what's best for the fish I plan to keep. I'd hate to see them suffer and die because I knew little about them. Plus, it would be a huge waste of money.

Of the fish on your list I would recommend not adding a mystery wrasse, tons of personality and great looking, but they can be a terror to fish added after them particularly other wrasses. And in my experience a kuiter's leopard is one of the more difficult leopards to acclimate to captivity.

KaneH, I would stick to more Cirrhilabrus/paracheilinus species if I were you. There are a few halichoeres that will also do OK in your tank and a leopard isn't out of the question either but to start fairy and flashers are the way to go. They all still behave differently though. Do a little research and figure out witch ones appeal to you and come back at us with some names and we'll give you an idea on personality. Also tell us a little more about your tank, like is it a reef?
