Adornatus get aggressive, beauperryi gets large, you were smart to leave whipfins off the list, rubrisquamis get large.

Other species that would work would be rubriventralis, pintail, lunatus, and johnsoni.

Agreed. My adornatus bullies fish nearly twice his size. Only the rhomboid, labouti and rubrisquamis are spared his aggression and they are much larger.

I've been practicing my fish taking.. Snapped a decent one of my Naoko Wrasse, still need to polish up on my skills though!

Not even gonna try ... but you have given me an understanding of why they're called "flasher" wrasses!

I fell for wrasses as a child - my first was a supermale caribbean bluehead, which I kept in a ten-gallon tank with a pair of seahorses. (I know now, not a good combination!) Of course, when I put live brine shrimp in for the seahorses, the wrasse would dart about scarfing them all down. I tried putting flakes in first to take the edge off the bluehead's hunger, but he always had room for all the live brine my budget could manage for dessert.

Noticing the intelligence of the wrasse, I quickly got him to understand that if he came to the corner of the tank when I held my finger above it and "spit", like an archerfish, he'd get a brineshrimp treat. Within a few weeks, however, something unexpected happened - the bluehead would take all the brine shrimp I wanted to feed him, but only off the tip of my finger. When I dropped brine in for the seahorses, the wrasse would snap up just a few, and ignore the rest, allowing the seahorses to feed at leisure!

Is it any wonder that I'm considering adding a carpenter or McCosker's to my new 65 gallon when it's cycled?!

Mnat, you need to put that attenuatus on a diet, he's absolutely obese. Wish mine would flash like that. The A. femininus is beautiful!

I use the brs mesh top over the whole tank and it keeps them out.
