The Wrasse Lover's Thread!

I currently have a Paracheilinus lineopunctatus and Paracheilinus flavianalis. I have been looking for a P. angulatus but my LFS do not seem to get them in often, if ever. The lineopunctatus is currently the dominant fish, he is noticeably larger than the flavianalis.
They have a Carpenters at the LFS and was wondering if it is too similar to the flavianalis to add... I'm going back by the LFS to pick up a Molly Miller Blenny this evening so could pick up the Carpenter as well.... the Carpenters is currently smaller than my flavianalis and would go through quarantine before being added.
Its a 54g tank with a good amount of rock.

Thoughts?

It would probably be okay.

I'd wait for a McCoskers over a Carpenters.

Is this a Halichoeres Melasmapomus? I didn't take a photo of the juvenile, but the other, smaller fish that was similar had 3 black dots down its back, so I assume they lose the dots as they age?

That does look like melasmapomus to me. The smaller one is most likely a female if sold with the male you showed. The dots on the back of the female would only go away if it began transitioning too a male.

Ah, sounds correct. Every one of them was in a different tank, so there weren't any females and males together. I didn't buy the fish, but I think i'll get one of the juvenile females when I go back in a few days. Very cool little wrasse.

Be aware they don't stay small. Mine is over 6" and growing. I believe they get up to 9".

Ah then the juvi should be ok for me. This tank is 125g so there’s room for her. I’ll only have it stood up for 2 more years max

I do have a Lubbock, carpenter, marble, female leopard, lunare, and a mediumish melanarus, but other than the lunare, they’re all pretty chill.

you'll want to keep an eye on the melanurus for sure since they're from the same genus, but they do look quite different from each other, so they'll be more likely to get along

Marble wrasses also develop an attitude as they mature.
