Would 1 be limit? Or could I do 2. Im assuming they are territorial since they bury in the sand to sleep or do they not really set up shop?

I wouldn't recommend one if you want other wrasses. If you did get a lunare, then only 1 per tank.

Sorry i didnt mean a lunar... Lunar was what got me intrested in the wrasse species. I meant any wrasse period could I house 2 together if so what eould be some good candidates.

Most reef safe wrasse species can mix quite well. There may be some species that don't play as well as others. I would suggest finding a few that interest you and post here asking about compatibility.

Even compared to leopards. I have found H. chrysus to be more peaceful than Macropharyngodon species.

Awesome I've just never had an aggressive leopard wrasse and had mixed personalities on yellow coris with most being peaceful but some not. Have you had aggressive leopards?

I've run into quite a few aggressive leopards. I've had to remove a few ornatus for bullying other leopards. There was a large female meleagris in a 250g that would kill any sand burying wrasse added to the tank. Kuiters are aggressive to other sand burying wrasses.

Meanwhile H. chrysus have always been well-behaved for me.

That MUST be addressed ASAP. Any gap is too much gap.

There is a vendor that is telling me this is an exquisite wrasse from Africa. However, I don’t not think it is from Africa. Can someone please confirm?

That is definitely not an African exquisite wrasse. That is a Pacific variant.

Ditto that. This is first time I've ever even heard anyone say theirs was aggressive.

It seems to be a hardy species. They also are one of the larger species in the genus, so like it's close relative, M. kuiteri can probably be bossy to congenerics.

Pacific exquisitus don't have the thick pink markings on the side of their bodies from their head to the middle of their body.

I like the crescent tail but choose to have the Brunneus instead.

They are very underrated I think it’s the diamond tail fault. I had one in my last wrasse tank was very active.

I already have a Brunneus very nice little one loves hunting pods with my leopards. Crescent tail is a must in any tank I have along with the pintail. I have to get some positive ID’s from the big dogs on them as they are very young. Dont think i will be adding anymore mature wrasses as I already have a few mature ones.

Thank you I do too. I’m about to give them some ROE and tiger pods also have a young copperband, Fox face(tiny juv) and a powder brown.
