Man.... sorry for your losses...sounds like my week! I lost my China Wrasse, Bicolor Angel, and captive bred Singapore angel, no disease or any issue I can see....all parameters were in check, except my pH was about 7.9 when I checked it today, it is always 8.2 to 8.3....not sure if that did it or not....so I am upset as well....my 5 Leopards are fine, and Red Coris....very frustrated to say the least!

I feel your pain sorry to hear. I may replace them this week I’m still debating whether to or not as I will only have one qt available since I will be cleaning and reseeding the other.

Thanks!!! I thought about replacing one or two myself, but I think I am going to hold off on replacing any for a while....it's tough loosing fish that's for sure....I hope our luck turns around! [emoji6]

I have a rhomboid female that's made it 3 weeks in QT. Over the weekend I found her having trouble swimming, usually with her head upright. Now is lying on her side or upside down on the bottom. I'm thinking she somehow broke her spine... :(

I had the same issue, and around the same time. I spoke with humblefish and he apparently has seen a large number of spinal injuries too, I am not convinced something else is go8ng on.

Dan I bet you got her from LA? Has anyone gotten a female rhomboid from LA that has made it more than a few weeks? (Not DD)

Wrasses don't gradually develop a spinal injury. It's very sudden. What is going on is the wrasse hitting a solid object at high speed.

I understand generally the idea, but from anecdotal evidence I count at least 3-4 specifically rhomboid wrasses and I am betting from LA all dying of a spinal injury around the same time.

I haven’t heard of this with other fairies and it just strikes me as odd happening at the same point in time in QT.

Now likely there are some variables that make sense to match- LA is the largest supplier, 3-4 weeks into QT likely is the period of time people are most sensitive to losing a fish in this way, and of course we know that wrasses love to jump, I was just speculating if there was another common cause, and curious as I just want to hear about a success- since I am eager to get one again too

Ug. That sucks!! I have three QT tanks running now and I am on vacation. Loaded them down with bacteria and have friend feeding them. A little nervous now.

Two weeks development of my Melanurus Wrasse. The face and mouth start to really turn green. It is a lot greener in real life. Lost some color with the picture.

Question for all the wrasse experts will a Orange back Fairy wrasse and a Red headed Solon Wrasse get along?

You are likely correct- but out of curiosity who has been able to get a juvenile rhomboid from LA to last?

Just want to show off my two China wrasse. Not a pair yet, both are still female, but they don't fight so I thin they will pair up given a little, or a lot, of time.
The Melanurus wrasse was also captured in this picture. The green mouth is very evidence here. That got to be the first sign as the Melanurus Wrasse change sex.

Those two are in the same complex within Cirrhilabrus, so they'd need plenty of room to get out of one another's way. I've tried it, and while the two didn't fight, the colors of the smaller solon dulled to disappointing levels.

I’ve recently purchased a “solar” red eye/clown face wrasse and enjoying the fish It’s happily sleeps in a borrow it’s made. My question is do I need a cover if temps are always good fish not bullied and has good sleeping area? is it a question of when or if, on this fish jumping at some point. I have clowns also statistically they do jump but less.

I would def work on getting a cover.. honestly with wrasses it’s not a matter of if but when the fish decides to jump.. I mean heck I have a lid and my pintail has jumped out of the tank twice.. one time was during maintained the other he was hitting at food on the surface and squeezed through the gap where my radions are on the rank.. so I would def advise getting a lid.. that is if you don’t want to lose your fish

Not just wrasses, my ocellaris clown and midas blenny have both tried to carpet surf, but just hit the gentle trampoline of bridal tulle and it's back into the water.

I have one and it’s diet and behavior is very similar to my other species of Leopards, but better behaved than my Ornate.
