TSM coral in NJ is a great place. Full quarantine and they feed pellets and mix frozen so they eat when you get them. They also keep fish in 1.026 salinity to make the transition easier. They are big with mail order. Give them a list of fish and when available they will get them and prepare them for you

I used to go all over the tristate area looking for shops around here just to have good quality fish and coral. i use the reef shop in morris park. anthony doesn’t keep too many fish on the floor but always has some nice stuff to look at especially corals. he really comes through with the ordering of fish which is what i like the most. i went in on a sunday and talked to him about the male half banded, i got a call that friday it was in the shop ready for me to pick it up. i got those flames over a month earlier when i went in for a thing of purigen and he offered me the pair on the spot for $300 cash. honestly my favorite place to get anything by a mile

Guess i'll have to take a trip up to the BX and take a looksee...

How does one get clear photos of their wrasse with an iPhone and filter? I have some lovely wrasses in my Reefer 250 but cannot get a clear shot...

Guys at TSM are awesome! I have a couple wrasse from them.

They are great. Owner walked me around the place and talked about the methods they use. Wanted to go home with a Lineatus and Rhomboid and he said the Rhomboid has 1 more week to comeback. He could have just let me leave with it but they put the health of fish first.

Well, I’d tried introducing a Cirrhilabrus Lineatus into my DT with an established Harlequin Tusk Wrasse (Choerodon fasciatus) and it didn’t go well for the Lineatus. It got beaten up pretty badly. Had to relocate the Lineatus to my hospital tank. I have a flame fairy wrasse coming soon so now I’m really worried about introducing the flame fairy into the DT. There goes that idea *sigh*

Take the harlequin tusk out and add the other 2 at the same time. Give them some time to adjust to the tank like a week or 2 then add the harlequin back

Can’t decide what leopards to get so I came home with a Radiant. Perfect addition so far. Never starts crap and can take a shove from the others.

That sucks to hear.
Crazy how this hobby works out. I grabbed him from LFS, matched salinity then tossed him in with frozen food and watched him eat with others.
LFS do FW dip, treat for flukes then copper power. I won’t leave a fish any longer then 2 weeks if it’s not necessary.

I’m curious about what others have experienced with aggressive Silver Belly / Yellow Coris wrasses. I had two that I think transitioned to full males — Both developed the large green/red splash of color along the profile of their gills and face; I only have one now because the more aggressive one decided to kill the other. I attempted relentlessly to catch either the aggressive one or the one getting beat up but I was unsuccessful; and this all happened about five weeks ago. Since then I lost a sand sifting goby from old age.

Fast forward to this weekend...

On Sunday I introduced a sand-sifting diamond goby who just got out of quarantine to my display. I decided on getting a smaller juvenile Goby so I can be sure to get a good 5-6 years out of him/her. Unfortunately, my once healthy goby, had a pieces of fins missing and was at the surface of my display trying to jump out. That’s when I noticed the silver belly corris was nipping and thrusting at the goby. I pulled the goby from the display and put it into my Mandarin tank.

This silver belly wrasse has shown to be very aggressive. He doesn’t bother any fish or coral but he proactively goes after my margarita snails by hitting them off the glass and flipping them over when they are on the sand bed. The only other wrasse in the tank is a peaceful leopard wrasse.

Anyone know if this particular breed of Hoelichoeres is typically this aggressive? He’s not starving or showing signs of malnutrition —- I was pondering whether I wasn’t feeding him enough, but he is very healthy in appearance and color and there is no finnage issues.

Very happy with my @LiveAquaria order! They actually held them an extra week due to weather. A 25lb box for 4 fish-- thats quality shipping. And, the SG is an appropriate 1.026- none of that hyposalinity stuff!

(They are in a small puddle of water for the photo, right before I add them to the tank)

The Tail-spot immediately started swimming back and forth across the 8ft tank, while the fairy & flasher went into the rock work :)

From a LFS about an hour away... Female Blue Throated Fairy Wrasse. A bit camera shy, but man, she's pretty :)

Gotta see if I can get a male :)

Thank you for the response. Are they known to be super territorial? I'm curious what others have experienced with this breed as they get older. Mine has grown and is almost 3 years old. Just surprised how aggressive it was to the Goby.
