Hi,

I have introduced a group of 4 different wrasses of the cirrhilabrus family a few months ago.
There´s one guy who´s acting like an a**hole. lately and killed another wrasse and 2 anthias.

I bought them as a less agressive species in the lfs, according to evolved´s cirrhilabrus chart. I suspect it was misidentified by the store. Could it be a C Naokae?

I cought him, can I keep him in the trap for overnight? The tank will be dark untill I go to the lfs tomorrow.

I would like to add some small to medium sized fish, sub 6 inches, to balance things out some. I was thinking 3 to 5 wrasses might be a good choice. What would be your suggestions with an emphasis on movement and color?

Any advice on this one? I have a beautiful large blue flasher wrasse that I suspect has a spinal injury. He unfortunately loves to jump, hitting the canopy. 3 weeks ago I started noticing he got ''pushed'' by the wavemakers, as if he couldn't use his tail as well anymore.

Then last week on Monday he didn't come out and hasn't until today. Hasn't eaten all this time and when he finally emerged, he shot through the tank like a torpedo. Hitting everything in his path, swimming upside down and eventually laying on the sand.

What's strange to me though, are his fins. I've had wrasses with spinal injuries before and they always clamped their fins and had the usual hanging tail.

This guy's tail doesn't hang at all and he swims around like he's constantly flashing (without the intense coloration). His fins never go down, which has me thinking perhaps it's something else?

Could be a pintail. Is it coming out of the bag? Might be easier to I'd in your qt tank.

I ended up returning it since it was clearly not P. attenuatus. I did email evolved and he confirmed it was C. africanus. Fortunately, the store had an actual P. attenuatus, so no harm no foul in the end. She is tiny though. Barely an inch long. I can't wait for her to change.

@revhtreer I doesn't look like the link. Mine is an odd cross between a wrasse, a hog fish and an assessor. I simply cannot place it in one category. It has a diamond shaped rear fin which only opens up when it is startled. There is one large spot on its side and one small spot on the top dorsal fin.

I recently bought a ornate leopard wrasse from Dr Reef. Beautiful fish and is starting to settle in nicely. My question is regarding feeding behavior. He is constantly pecking the rocks and sand for pods which I know is to be expected. Do they eventually feed from the water column too? Thanks!

Mine does. She prefers PE pellets (mysis), vs flake or others... even over frozen surprisingly.
