Hi. Anybody here have experience with a Christmas wrasse? I’ve got a Laboute, golden rhomboid, blue flasher, canary, black leopard and spotted leopard wrasse. Couple clowns. Yellow tang. I think it’ll be okay. But I just never really thought about them but my lfs has had 2 small ones for a few weeks. Kinda want one.

Hey I’m looking to get a rhomboid wrasse, how is it in terms of temperament? I have a mccoskers wrasse currently with a few out fish, but will it be ok with the mccoskers? I also have a couple of dwarf angels I hope they don’t pick on it.

Rhomboid is pretty chill wrasse. It should be fine.

There are a few different species that are called a “Christmas” wrasse. Do you happen to know if the wrasse at your LFS is a halichoeres or thalassoma? If it’s a thalassoma pass on it. I have H. Biocellatus which is one of the species called a “Christmas”. He gets along well with all my other wrasses.

Flamebacks can be aggressive. What size tank and what other fish? Maybe ok in 120+ with plenty of hiding places. The rhomboidalis and lineatus are quite passive.

It looks like halichoeres claudia. Gonna give it a shot.

Or maybe it’s biocellatus. Can’t really tell the different I’m the pics. This one has two black spots on its fin. I’ll get a pic tomorrow. It’s in my tank. Figure either one would be a good bet.

The really thick stripe under the eye is unique to H. Biocellatus. Yours is a juvenile due to the ocelli spots on the dorsal fin, so female for now.

My daughter named her Christie. Since she’s a Christmas wrasse.

I received this female flame wrasse last November. In the past week is has just started to transform. Or at least I've just recently noticed it.
