I would take a radiant over red every day of the week.

Same over here, wish I had thought out my wrasses some more and got a second iridis.

Task is done. I made up my mind this morning once I saw the black leopard was still alive.

Tore 99% of the rock and coral out to finally get the red coris. Now if the black will come out....

I did scare her out, but she dug in pretty quickly. Still pretty scared I think. With the red out, maybe she will come out in the morning?

Wasn't fun, and I certainly do not want to do it again, but I and my tanks inhabitants are much better now.

Thinking I am going to be adding one of these to my tank hopefully in the next 1-4 months once the weather warms up . Looking for some insight on current Laboutes owners and or people that have owned them before or just have general knowledge on them.

How long did you have yours for ?
How did they take to eating prepared foods? frozen or pellets?
How did they get along with the current tankmates ? Especially other wrasse already established?
Did you QT before adding to the display ? HOw do they do in QT tanks?

Any pictures of the red? Also I would assume yes the black will come out more with the red gone. A shame that you had to remove him though, he looked like a beauty in the last photo I saw of him.

No didn't take any pics. he was a beauty and I was sad to see him go. Had him from a wee little 1" juvenile, to an almost 4" transitioning adult.

Forgot the worst news......

Now that I'm finished and everything is back in it's place.....

My melanarus jumped out of the tub! He jumped so hard, when he hit the floor I think he broke his back! I picked him up, placed him back in the water. He just circled and gasped at the top of the water. Just kind of circled, and his body was in a circle. Didn't look right, so I put him down.

Sad day now that I have time to think about things.

The rest of my fish are certainly more active now that the "bully" is out of the tank. I have never sen my lantern basslet swim around as much as I have in the last few hours.

Least some good news.

Hello, everyone!

I just finished feeding the tank and wanted to snap a few photos of my beloved possum and pink streaked wrasses.

A pleasant (and special) surprise, these two lined up for an adorable picture together. I know a few reefers here have one or both of these species, so I wanted to share for fellow possum and pink streaked lovers. It isn’t often that you can capture a photo of them hanging around together given their shyness!

I cant wait for you to join the lubbocki gang haha, they’re really nice fish especially when you catch them flashing!! What leopards do you think you want? That would be fun to know

I'm excited as well! I used to have one in a few different setups, and miss it a lot.

As far as leopards, I'm looking at 1 negrosensis, 1 meleagris, and 1 bipartitus. If I can find a moyeri, I'd snatch it up in a heartbeat as well. Wouldn't mind keeping Pseudojuloides cerasinus again either. These pics are out of my old 110 gallon. Definitely avoid the Stethojulis wrasses. Completely reef safe, even with sexy shrimp, but way too active for 99% of tanks, and need constant feeding like 6+ times per day of frozen foods.

What size tank are they in and what other fish are with them?

They are in an Innovative Marine 30L. I’m waiting on an IM SR 80 to get delivered, but I’m thinking these two will stay in the 30g.

As far as tank mates, there is a small (2” or so) McCoskers, a Ruby Long Fin, and 2 gladiator clowns. Everyone gets along well, and the only issue I have is the Ruby Long Fin being a jerk sometimes to the smaller McCoskers. I had purchased him expecting my larger tank to arrive sooner rather than later, but back ordered and shipping delays has made me start to regret getting the Ruby early. I’m probably going to end up rehoming him this weekend, especially after learning more about Ruby’s reputation for being bullies if they are not the last to join the tank. I kind of worry that him being first in the SR80 could cause problems.

Other than that, the possum, pink streaked, McCoskers and gladiators were a happy little family.

It is quite funny watching the possum and pink streaked interact with the others. The other fish completely ignore them as though they are invisible. The only exception being the clownfish that seem to have taken a liking to the pink streaked and let him hang out on the small trachy they’ve decided to start hosting.

On a different note, my long fin chases the McCoskers but generally does not interact with other fish in the tank. However, a few weeks ago my two gladiator clowns decided they were going to start hosting a small trachy they had taken a liking to. The clownfish were establishing their new territory around the trachy and were being a bit more confrontational than usual for a few days. This culminated one night into a small spat between the Ruby and clowns that I was able to catch on video.

Here is the short video of the interaction. Seeing the Ruby flare up and flash was really interesting and showed how beautiful the fish can look (otherwise looking rather “plain” for a fish with such dazzling relatives). I think rubys might get more love than they usually do if they didn’t always have damaged fins from shipping and a drab appearance in LFS.
