Well, first freshwater tropical tank in 1976. First Marine fish only around 1989 (and wasn't that fun :) , and first reef in 2015. There was a gap for kids from 2003-2015
Lol!!! totally get the 1989 reference. We definitely made it up as we went along. Fun times.

Wow, the left pic brings up memories from when I was really young. :)

I got started in 2021 so very much a newbie and when I look at this comment ten years from now I will be reminiscing and saying "I remember when...". :)

Edit: I've been into freshwater tanks since the 80's.

Oh yeah, spinning spray bars over bio balls, which were often just like golf practice balls.. lol.
Let’s not forget piling up live rock on every square inch of the back wall. The word aquascape was still a decade away.

1968 first freshwater tank with red, white and blue gravel.
1972 first attempt at saltwater with blue damsel and percula. This was a 10 gallon with a real wood frame with bird gravel as a substrate and filtration was a box filter.
1980Had a 20 high with a blue damsel, black and white damsel, purple pseudo and coral beauty. Filtration was a Supreme PME. I thought that I was a genius when the fish all hit two years of age.
