Well I'm in Venice, Florida right now but overall pretty good. I lost one clam, the tiny blue one that had clipped, and I'm not 100% on the big maxima as it still hasn't regained all its color but the super ultra gold (or whatever it's called) is seemingly very happy despite being 1” and the deresa is looking good too.

Acropora, I have now had 23 acropora in my whole time reefing.
1 overnight bailout
2 long-term bailout I couldn't stop
1 knocked over into my shrooms and died
1 isn't yet basing out and looks a little bad on one side.
3 are new but seemingly doing well
15 are growing and of those most are now showing rapid growth
So I'm pretty happy with acropora considering this is a new tank and my first attempt with acropora.

All my other coral are doing pretty well with the exception of my… limp toadstool. I thought I had lost my blasto but after removing an emerald crab I caught eating corals it has started to regrow polyps.


Fish are all happy and I really love my new jawfish. It is so cute and watching it hover in and out of its hole is my new favorite activity.

The turf algae war has gone cold. It doesn't seem to be getting worse or better. It certainly is better then 6 months ago though. I don't have any other nuisances except aiptasia in the overflow but who cares about that?

Weird thing is that none of the acropora I lost are from the LFS and I think my LFS usually does wild collected

It’s very nice to experience tiny clams being so resilient. The dogma of <3” = death has not been my experience at all, but maybe it’s because of the aquaculture era.

I actually am experiencing my very first STN event. It started from a shaded acro colony which transferred to the neighboring pink Cadillac colony. The progression was slow, but 75% bone white. It’s so embarrassing, and it’s my first time saying it in the public forum. I was gonna take it to my grave. Haha

I think I had a crab damage my acropora. It looked like potholes on its skeleton. It quickly recovered once I removed the crab.

Do you need a lid for a jawfish?

Haha. I don’t think it’s the LEDs lol.

I have 2 plausible theories:

1) I gradually increased my alk to about 13.5 dKH. But that wouldn’t make sense since it was the only STN coral

2) The shaded acro STN caused whatever pathogen to infect the neighboring acro. It seems to have halted.

Yes, the alk is lower. I don’t think that was the cause, though.

You have to share the failures and the successes to learn. I don't know why I lost the two STN’s as they were in the same approximate location as acropora that thrived. Only thought is that I have them too high par too soon.

Yeah
I spent a lot on one just for the first fish I added alongside the jawfish to jump. I blame thunder and the cords on my powerheads. However a fellow reefer may be gifting me some mp40s which is so generous.
I'm the meantime airline tubing is blocking the gap.
