This fish - Good grief

We all take our chance and acquire a fish that should fit in well. Every once in a while, we get a fish that does not work out and become your tank nightmare causing grief.
In the past mine has been Sohal tang and a passer angel. Currently and to my surprise, its my dussomieri tang which is growing quickly and becoming a jerk. Occasionally its my Desjardini sailfin tang also growing quickly.

Which fish do you have that is terrorizing your tank and how?
What measures have you taken to cope with it?

I have placed the dussomieri in an acclimation box twice- Last time for 2 weeks and it just goes right back to it. Other has been the Powder Blue tang

Bought two Domino Damsels for my first tank, they looked so cute when they were tiny. Now they are fish terrorists. Tried trapping them with no success, they see the net and they hide in the rockwork, I even tried fishing for them with a small crappie hook with no success.

One day there will be a tank reboot and they will find a new home, until then they are the masters of their domain.

I was given a lunar wrasse from a local reefer (which when told what it was I wasn’t aware it was a lunar). I put it as the first fish in a tank that will ultimately be too small for it and I now can’t add any other fish to the tank.
I tried adding a damsel thinking it would be aggressive enough to hold its own and my wrasse ate the damsel.

I made the mistake of buying a Splendid Dottyterror early on. Not sure why I kept it as long as I did but finally rehomed it when it started mercilessly go after the Melanurus that have now. Worst aquarium citizen I’ve had. Had to dismantle most of the rocks to boot. What a pain.

Another one for me was red coris wrasse. What a gorgeous fish but it flipped every single rock and frag over daily in search of food

Mine was an orchid dottyback at least that's what I believe it was. Could have been another that looked similar but I've forgotten the names of those. The orchid was supposed to be the mildest mannered of the three. That little fish beat everything I tried to put in the tank. Even hermit crabs and snails weren't safe from its wrath. Had to dismantle the tank and remove the rock it was hiding in to get it out. It lived in a quickly put together 10g for 5 more years. Unfortunately I didn't take the best of care. I did the basics wc and feed but top off I may have done every couple days instead of daily like I should have. Didn't seem to mind or effect the fish much. Quite a bit of hair and bubble algae took hold in that tank from neglect and the fact I couldn't keep anything with him.

About 15 years ago I had a fish only tank. Once I put the undulated trigger that was it. Anything else I added he acted like a mob Hitman!

This is the only fish that ever bit me and removed skin !

I've only had 2 get aggressive with other fish. One a female maroon clown. Hardly ever see them get aggressive :face-with-tears-of-joy: I was able to net her. Second was a domino damsel. Tried traps no luck. I bought miniature fish hooks and tried to catch it, no luck. Even made a harpoon and tried to spear it with no luck. One day I had enough and pulled all the rock and used eggcrate to trap it in a corner and net it. This was a 6ft 150 gallon so it was a fun time. Took both to the LFS.

I have a yellow tang that was extremely aggressive- Killed at least a dozen fish over the last few years. When I moved my tank I re did the aquascape as well as added an acclimation box. It seemed to of helped his aggression greatly.

I Love my red Coris, lol, well the color anyway.

I had a dragon wrasse for about 6 months, the sheer amount of sand sifting did me in. Oh they turn over everything they say, they dig they say, the eat the cuc they say. That fish did all of it at a clip that I couldn't even handle.

Admittingly, yellows can be jerks . I have a bunch and they mess with each other versus other tangs and fish in my tank

Maroon is a devil without horns. They bicker, fight, bite you and other fish and very territorial

My purple tang is the only tang I can have in my sps tank. It will relentlessly harass any other tang, regardless of species. So, it lives with damsels and cardinals in peace.

Mine was the tank monster but has become one of my most mellow fish/tangs

He was new to the hobby and didn’t know what he had. I have no hard feelings about it. I do wish I didn’t have a lunar wrasse though.
