Thank you for doing a comparison and letting us know. My experience with the dow membranes, generally purchased from BRS, is that they vary in quality. Some, like the current membrane function very well reducing my tds to 1-2 from approx 160 out of the faucet. Some membranes will do this longer than other membranes and all other factors are relatively consistent. I should try take my data and summarize it more formally.

I can share a spreadsheet if you want it. Graphs and everything auto populate, just fill in the data points.

Continue to test monthly on the membrane performance. Looks like when I am done in two months the Spectrapur membrane will have a little more production and a little less rejection.

So the membrane’s rejection rate has not decreased over the first ten months and 1,722 gallons of rodi?

It has just moved around a bit due to temperature changes of the source water. I would not expect it to drop off in the first 10 months.

I’m starting to see a decrease in my rejection rate almost 8 months after installing the membrane. In my case I produce drinking water and rodi water and try to track waste water so I can understand total water volume through all filters within my system. I filter water every week or two. Here’s an excerpt of the stats on my current membrane.

I started sending ICP test in this year. I am planning on doing it every three months February, May, August, November. If i pull the sample the first Sunday of the month and mail it on Monday I stay away from Holidays. I am sending one sample to REEF-Labs and one to Oceamo.

Like you, I did my first icp test earlier this year. I did the test with ATI. I wanted the test to provide comparable results to the tests I prepare at home, salinity, alk, ca, mg, no3 & po4 for some additional validation.

Anyhow, which test do you prefer? Where did you buy the test kits? I’m not familiar with these two testing companies.

After looking at what’s tested in your results and their presentation reports, I find the Oceanmo tests more appealing.

I purchased the Reeflabs from Saltwater Aquarium and the Oceamo from Reef Moonshiners. I like the Oceamo better but it is twice the cost.

Done with my year test of the Spectrapure Membrane. There is no benefit for me to spend the extra cost for their membrane. I am trying a Filmtec Aqualast 1812-HR now. @Woodyman @Mjl714

Average Numbers for the year

Rejection 98.2%
Production 78 gpd

I'm wondering if you got a not so nice one.. I'll have to pull you the graphs when I get on a computer, but here is mine I'm averaging 99.2% with an average incoming TDS of 203

Date range starts with 02/21/2022 and the most recent is 07/15/2023. So almost to a year in a half.

You should not get a "not good" one when you are paying extra for a tested membrane.

"SpectraPure® SpectraSelectPlus™ membranes are treated with a proprietary process to enhance rejection, increase production and speed rinse up times. These treated membranes are then hand-picked and individually tested for consistent ultra-high rejection. No other membrane can match the SpectraSelectPlus™ for long life and the ability to remove silica phosphates, nitrates, and heavy metals."

In the year I had that membrane I replaced my anion resin three times so I spent $45 on resins but I do not know how much of that resin is used up due to remaining CO2 in my water.

Right, makes you wonder. They should have been pretested so something changed or it wasn't labeled properly after testing. I'm sure these are manually sorted so mistakes are possible, but also shouldn't happen.

Was anion the only replacements? How did that compare to previous membrane?

Just the anion. Not sure I did not keep as good of records.
