Is there a minimum size they should be? What coral do you think is the coolest to have in a jar? What is keeping you from starting one?

1/2 to 1 gallon.

A hearty montipora echinata.

What is keeping you from starting one?
Algae Barn has not released an AIO Reef Jar kit yet ;)

A lot of work with very little returns in investment IMO. I think reef jars are kind of boring.

I like bigger tanks with a lot of fish/corals to simulate a real reef.

A single Kessil 160 up top. Make sure that makes it into the bundle.

Is that like a hermit crab hotel? Maybe some pulsing xenia / star polyps? What coral would survive long term in that though I'm curious....
A jar of nothing but pulsing xenia would be pretty cool but might get old and make we want to set up another jar haha

Colorful clove polyps / pipe organ coral if you can find it... pipe organ coral used to be one of my favorites. Sun polyps? I'd stick to mostly LPS myself. I didn't know folks were doing these jar reefs... pretty cool!

I feel like I'm going to regret asking for ideas when I end up with multiple jars haha It never occurred to me to try an bubble tip! -Raven
Wait, you are trying to set one up for your own personal leisure? I thought this was a way to get ideas for a new product!

In that case, get the reef jar!!

You can set up a copepod culture in a reef jar. I think algae barn sells it with the jar too! I think they even have a jar of phytoplankton. The jars are endless in this hobby. :face-with-tears-of-joy:

Restarting my 1l windowsill no tech. The only equipment is a tiny pump. It was actually doing fabulous, but got badly knocked around one day.
There was growth with everything, and the xenia was definitely very nice. Macros were a surprise hit as well, offering nice color

This was from the first time I had it set up. Went 2 weeks before it got knocked out the window sill, no notable algaeg rowth

We have one that has been up for a bit. It looks like the video might have loaded weird so we linked the Instagram reel to the original post. No plans for a new tank product- We love CADEs ;)

Do you keep the lid off completely? Really like how it looks with just natural light!

I could see this as a good way to get your fix on a coral I would never put into my tank, like xenia, gsp, zoas.
