Thoughts on switching from Windows/Andriod to Mac/iPhone?

Because I need to gather info on whether to stay where I'm at versus switching.

Used windows where I worked; use Mac and iPhone at home. I have had zero problems with Mac (25 years) and iPhone (3 years). Can't say the same for windows (20 years).

Mac does cost considerably more but in the end, Mac just makes better products. I've use and have both mac and pc and android and iphone. I think smartphone can be a toss up but computers, i've been using mac since my graphic design school days so I can never go back to pc and won't.

Well what triggered the consideration is finding out the tank app I want to use, Aquarimate, doesn't sync with Google Calendar but with iCloud calendar. And the other big reason for an iPhone is it can do Apex Fusion and Android can't. Right now the choice is between Google Pixel phone and a Chromebook versus an iPhone and a Macbook with cost favoring the Google products and compatibility/integrity favoring the Apple products.

I was also choosing between the Pixel and the iPhone. I've owned Android and Apple phones before and to me both operating systems were good, just different. The Pixel had the incredible camera going for it. The iPhone was compatible with more apps that I use, so kind of the same reasoning you have. I went with the iPhone, but honestly I'm kind of regretting it. My husband has the Pixel and takes amazing pictures...

All four are great with advantages and disadvantages. I would be fine with all four.

I have learned thru the years you get what you pay for. With Windows Microsoft has no control over what manufacturers chips sets and processors use. This is also the case with Andriod. Most of the problems associated with computers are do to driver issues that come from this type of arrangement. So many years ago I started using Mac's and all the crazy "Windows" problems went away. I see people at work struggle with using a Andriod phone with most struggling with simple things like selecting a camera function. Apple is always working to design their UI to make things easier for the user to do. I hate by UI and difficult to use software one of the reasons I beta test software for many different companies I hate to see people struggle with simple task's.

I made the switch switch to iOS 11 with an iPhone 7 and I am enjoying it. Mostly for the Apex Fusion app but apps I had in Samsung and now on iPhone, the iOS versions of the same app are better. Even the Google family apps on iPhone are better!

What did you do on the computer side? I have an iphone/ipad but would never switch over to an apple computer. Had one and it crashed more than my windows machine. Since windows 7 I haven't really had any problems. Most of my issues come from me screwing around with things I shouldn't. Plus I like to constantly upgrade (bad habit) so apple is definitely not the way to go. My oldest son has a 5 year old windows phone refuses to give it up. I've offered on more than one occasion to buy him a new android or iphone and he says no. My daughter is addicted to her google chrome. They issue all the kids at her school one and she is constantly on it. My son's school gives them all macbook pros and he never turns it on unless he has to do homework on it.

I really like my iphone but would probably be just as happy with an android phone. Mainly what keeps me with the apple phone is the security around it. I like the fact it has to go thru the apple store process before I can download it. Maybe that is a false sense of security.

I use windows at work and I am IT support for our maintenance department. So I go home to the peace and quiet of my MacBook Pro.

Went Mac years ago and never looked back. Switched to iPhone less than 5 months after going Mac

apple laptops are very well built. i'm tough on my laptops and over the years, found the macbook to be one of the sturdiest. just don't get the keyboard wet as it will cost you the price of a pc to replace. on the other hand, iphones are fragile and require expensive cases to keep them from getting wet or broken. The lack of a headphone jack is the most annoying forced change. no bid deal with new phones with good battery life, but i don't look forward to when i have to between charging the phone or using the earphones.

What i like most about apple/ios is the way the devices will talk with eachother ad keep your data organized and available. upgradin devices is a easy peasy. my ipad gathers dust. just added apple tv to run youtube tv sometime this quarter so i can cut the cable triple play cord. It was able to import all my streaming settings in seconds which would have taken all day setting up on another device.

My MacBook and iMac are both 2009 models. No problems.
