I am wondering everyone's thoughts on these double element heaters? It looks like the controller adjusts the wattage to maintain the set temp. I do like the compact size, especially considering this one is 500 watts. This one is made by Hygger.

I have this one. Please note they are 0.5+- on the heater control.
(mine is -.5) so just make that adjustment. I run mine on its own controller. It has built in battery to remember last setting and has built in alarms for over/under temp and shuts off automatically at over temp. For the money, its well worth it......and the brand is awesome as they stand behind their products.

What controller are you using? Or the built in one?

I like simplicity with heaters, so it adjusting itself sounds like more things to break.

I'm a no brains titanium heater user, connected to two separate Helios controllers, maintained with an apex temp probe.

I must of missed it in the link, what does it say about the adjustable wattage?

On a controller or no?
I don’t think you can run this heater on an additional controller due to the fact it has its own controller. Basically the addition controller turns the heater off completely when not calling for heat which means it completely shuts the heater off shutting down the controller attached to the heater. This is a very reliable heater on its own. I’ve had one for many years.

I was wondering about running it the other way. Setting the inkbird as a high point safety shutoff, ie 79F, and running this at 78F on its own controller?

Maybe I saw it somewhere else. I think it was the fact that it displays current wattage that made me think that initially.

🤔

Looking at this one myself. You guys think 300 watts is too much for a 33 aio? Probably 28 gallons of water , don’t want it to overheat the tank, only one that delivers tomorrow via Amazon

IMO.....it is big, but if its a good deal, grab it.....
a "modern" heater won't allow for overheating.....and it will work less on keeping your temp where you need to be...better over-powered then under ......

Thanks looking for 200 watt but doesn’t have any that deliver this week. I ordered the 150-300 hygger supposed to be here tomorrow but they say shipping is delayed until the 14th, that ain’t gonna cut it.
