Title is pretty self-explanatory, but for more context: I am a digital artist and I’ve found that in my case, it’s better for me to draw at least a little bit every day vs. taking breaks bc then I’ll stop drawing for weeks at a time. So, I’ve decided that because of that and also in the name of experimenting with rendering techniques (and maybe composition for some things?) I’m going to try to draw some corals! I’ve already drawn one of my BTAs so I’ll put that here to start
I was messing with a bunch of layer blending modes/settings for this (I screwed up and muddied the colors lol) so it’s not the peak of my ability (my “specialty” is also humans/humanoid characters anyway) but I did learn some things from it. An anemone maybe was not the greatest coral to start with either though… either way I’m probably drawing my black widow next
.
I don’t draw very fast so I don’t know how frequently I’ll be able to actually post finished drawings but I’m all ears to any suggestions! At the moment my only ideas are ones in my tank. It can be any type of coral, I’m open to challenges... only real rule I have is don’t touch my stuff with AI.

. Accidentally forgot to turn off alpha lock while I was rendering tho so it looks crusty on the edges and it was too late to fix when I noticed. The values also ended up a little dull but for some reason when I tried brightening the lighter parts it would eliminate the darker details entirely so next time I’ll have to see if I can figure out how to get around that
. I think I might try a chalice next, not one I have but one I want that looks fun to draw
