Hi All! I have a toadstool that I got about a year ago and I cannot for the life of me get this thing to open up way more than whats shown here in this thread. I recently moved and upgraded to a nuvo fusion 30 pro tank but even in my other tank it just never seemed to open up more than what I currently have. I've tried high flow, low flow, middle of the line flow..now its in a new posiiton in the water so I was hoping to see this thing showcase itself but no luck..was looking to see if there are any tips or suggestions on how to improve quality for this guy..I initially wanted it to be my center piece but now i have it out to the side.

The last picture was in my old tank and i just wanted to show the example of how the "feelers"(?) or whatever theyre calleed are just small nubs versus super extended and "whispy"

Water conditions and parameters have been pretty stable overall imo and from what I can gather they seem to be within range of everything..I have a feel its just moody and wont ever showcase right but maybe some tips here!

Its stretching out towards the light IMO. The stem should be short and fat, not elongated like that.

They also need a good amount of flow, the flow helps them stand up, they slump over in low flow.

Can you get us a video so we can see what the flow looks like in your tank and around the toadstool?

As said above, lots of these guys don't get enough flow, and when thats fixed they tend to perk right up.

So as of now I am running the stock return pump(might jet?) from the nuvo fusion. Previous tank i was running a gyre at like 4 speed. I have not turned on the MaxSpect gyre quite yet in the Nuvo, been letting things settle some before I move around some other coral potentially but its possible its not enough flow right now...

As for lighting, I typically run a NICREW 100W but have a temp light on...even with the NICREW though it never seemed to open.

I can get video here by end of night though!

You gotta get that gyre going my friend.

Return flow almost certainly will not be enough to make this toadstool happy. They can take Medium+ pretty easily.

What percentage is your nicrew? My 100 watt nicrew grows leathers very well at 75% in a 32 gallon tank.

But it does sound like the tank has low flow if only the return, it might benefit from a powerhead or two. (I always suggest 2)

I was running it with the controller with 80 percent blues and then only like 15 percent whites..at one point i was running 100 percent though.

Well I turned on my gyre last night! Will see how things turn out ..I actually have the toadstool right under the gyre though so idk if its even getting the right flow. I may change the direction of flow and move the gyre to the other side. Will monitor and see. My hammers aactually look like theyre getting plenty of flow but its possible maybe too much? Gonna monitor.
