I need help, my long polyp toadstool coral has lost its color. The cap and polyps used to be a deeper purple color and it’s tentacles were a fluorescent green. Now its polyps and tentacles have paled out or become translucent in color. How do I bring out its original color and open up its tentacles more like the first photo (flower-like).

Would appreciate any advice, please and thank you.

It needs a good reef light medium intensity and medium flow and nutrients in the water. Can you please advise your lighting flow and parameters?

More light for sure. 150-200 par, seen them do well under even more par (250 ish). Try moving it slowly to a brighter spot in the tank

It was originally at 110-120 PAR and online sources have noted that when a toadstools color lightens it’s usually due to high PAR. Hence why I lowered PAR 2 days ago to 100. Should I still increase PAR closer to 150?

The light is not too strong, but that kind of depends what size your tank is? I would suggest to place the coral as close to the light as possible.

Did you measure the par or is it from the manufacturer?

My toadstool is under AI Prime (55 watts) just 12" under my light

P04 should be less than no3 but I don't have any of that kind of coral. My Euphillia gets unhappy with low mg. BTW what is ca and mg?

I have the Apogee MQ-510 PAR meter. It’s currently at 110-120 PAR.

The Hygger has a goose neck arm so I can adjust the distance of the light from the coral quite easily to get the correct PAR. This gives you the flexibility to achieve any PAR.

It has 3 different spectrums and I have found the mixed white and blue spectrum is the strongest compared to the white and blue spectrum.
