+1 on the miter saw. It's very quick and the cuts are relatively square. Sand the outside lip of the pipe and you're good to go.

Compound miter saw if I’m making enough cuts to get it out. If it’s just a couple pieces then a miter box and hand saw. Then a quick bevel with a dremel.

Milwaukee PVC shear is a dream. If you already have a Milwaukee tool using their M12 battery system, the shear without battery, charger and case can be purchased for about half the cost of the full tool. This made it affordable for me as I already had the mini Milwaukee sawzall with an M12 battery.

The Milwaukee shear not only is easy and fun to use, it creates no PVC saw dust. You can also maneuver it to cut pipes in place.

It does leave a slight lip on the cut pipe. I use a pipe reamer to knock this off and create a light taper for better solvent welding.

Milwaukee PVC shears for me. I already owned a bunch of Milwaukee M18 and M12, so it was an easy purchase for the bare tool.

+1 for the mitre saw. If you're only cutting PVC, kijiji or craigslist a used one, you don't need anything fancy or particularly high quality.

I have not mastered the skill of making square cuts with the usual ratcheting PVC cutter.

Bruce

Hard to get a straight cut with a cheap ratchet cutter that flexes, or when blade is dull

Hack saw. Sure, not as clean as some other methods, but I don't have a good enough miter saw for it to be worth setting up and everything:D

There is not a lot of consensus in thread, I am still not sure what to go with.
Maybe it's because there are no right ways or perfect ways to cut pvc.
So many different tools to pick from.
