Torch “Fully Expanded”

How do I tell if my torch is full expanded? I wasn’t able to see it in the tank in person before I purchased it. Any advice is appreciated that you. Also any good links or info on how these grow or how to care for them best would be appreciate.

Congrats on your first torch! be careful it's an addiction :)

Care for Euphyllia:
Flow: Moderate to low
Lighting: Mid tank - moderate to low par
Feeding: I spot feed mysis shrimp, reefroids and Red Sea Reef Energy (every other day)
When buy you want to be able to see the base of the coral. I always make sure the skin is attached to the skeleton. If any part of the skeleton is showing when the torch is "extended" I will typically pass on it.

I really enjoy Tidal Gardens videos, they are short but very informative, least in my opinion.

Wow a goldie!!!! Do you know if it's an indo gold or a aussie gold? I will say this... if this is an Aussie gold torch it'll need good flow and moderate light, they are known to be hard to keep. Keep an eye on your water parameters.

How long has it been in the tank? For now let it rest in relatively low light while it acclimates to your tank.

It’s an Indo. Sitting on the sand bed now. I just put it in on Saturday.

Looks like it's doing well where it is. Looks like it was just a short frag but the tentacles don't look shriveled and thin. Looking good!

I think it'll be fine as well. It's a good looking torch, just a small piece. Some of them are like that... I think with time you'll probably get a little more extension out of it.

Thanks everyone! What’s the typical growth rate on torches? New head every 1/3/6/12 months?

Slow depending on how much skin it has. When mine was doing well it went from 1 to 3 heads in about 3 months but I think it takes a while after the initial split to keep splitting. Maybe a head every 3 months if it is really happy. Someone else might have faster growth.

Thanks as you said this seems to be a super tiny frag, hope it extends out and up!
