I'm hoping I can get some tips from the torch guys. I've got a few different torch species and they get full extension during the day, but over the last few weeks have begun to look semi-translucent. Not white like they're bleached, but just not as colored out as you can see in the pictures. I've been spot feeding chopped mysis and Aquaforest Coral Food, and I can get feeding responses so that's a perk.
Tank facts:
Two A160wes 21" from sand bed, all corals in the sand and my lighting schedule is 12 hours, 4 sunrise to 28% 4 hr peak at 30% and 4hr sunset back to zero.
Salinity 35ppt
Alk 8.3-8.4
Ca 430
Magnesium 1310
Temp 78.6F
Nitrate 1ppm
Phosphate .003-.01.
All tests are salifert and I use a refractometer. Carbon and a very light amount of gfo in a reactor.
My green torch was under hybrid T5/led fixtures and my toxic/gold colony was under T5 at the store. The toxic/gold one is even more troubling as it was very colorful at the store but faded a bit nearly instantly in my tank. Great extension like I said and they extend most of the time at night with the occasional retraction. All were dipped and no signs of tissue loss or brown jelly.
