Good evening,
1000043012.jpg

my torch coral was very happy two weeks ago and started splitting.
In the last 3 days the torch started to drop some polyps and the "new" head now has no polyp at all and the other half look very unhappy.
Parameters are stable at:
Nitrate 12
Phos 0.03
Alk 8.3
Calcium 400
Ph 8.3
Magn 1450

I have changed nothing in the setup.
It is very strange, was very happy it started to split and now looks like it's a goner.
Can anyone give me any tips?

Mine was dropping the tips of its tentacles also. I found some flatworms on it. I dipped it and got them all off. It seems to be recovering. I’d check it for parasites and dip if you’re able to.

i have inspected the coral and found no parasite and no reef safe with caution fish in the tank.
My cleaner shrimp love to stay near the torch

this happened to me many occasions where the head about to completely split off, it receded and BJ took over. I do not know what is going on. I think at this phase the head is extremely sensitive to any small change. It is very frustrating

True!

When torches split they are in sensitive states and often have receded fleshbands and / or reduced extension. Sometimes it just doesn’t work out unfortunately.

I have a very high end torch I bought as dual head, and one of them started to split. I was thrilled! And then that splitting head got bjd and I ended up having to frag it off, reducing my torch by 50%

Now the remaining head is splitting and looking good but I’m on eggshells with it
