Torch help?

So I bought my first torch and was wondering if the slime looking stuff around the base is normal/ok? Stressed about it because UPS sucks and the package got delayed.

I've not seen that before. Almost looks like invasive sponge.

Looks like a sponge growing around it. They like shady places. No worries ;)

As long as you don't see recession your good. We had grey sponge that would outcompete/suffocate some corals. Just keep an eye out;)

Cool guess I’ll leave it unless it starts encroaching on the polyps???

That should be fine. Its easily removed with a toothbrush
