We were on our way home and the sky turned green. We floored it home but the rain came and we got drenched running from our car. I opened the gate and the wind was so strong it literally launched me 10 feet via wooden gate!

We made it inside safely to a house WITH POWER?! This thing tore out our entire fast food source and grocery store. After it calmed we traveled the town to observe the wreckage which was surprisingly devastating. Hospitals from 3 surrounding towns opened up to the victims of the wreckage because ours was packed nearly immediately.

I'm not sure of the level of injuries but it was completely without warning! No storm sirens at all.

The tornado started 3/4 of a mile west of us and ripped through the business all down main and 1 block away changed its path, crossed the river, and finished its destruction over the local golf course/park, which we rode our mountain bikes through. Trees everywhere smashed into bits!

It was truly an event this town will remember and hopefully convince the council that a wal Mart may not be such a bad idea.

that looks terrible, hope no one was seriously injured

Saw that on nightly news with brian williams. It's amazing how destructive tornadoes can be but how concentrated they are. A lot different from the hurricanes we get down here. Glad you're ok!

Thanks! Ya know now that my brain is all settled down I just realized what I actually did when I got inside:
I changed, went down into the basement to see if it was flooding and then CLEANED MY PROTEIN SKIMMER out of force of habit when I was Down there while the dogs were upstairs flipping out hahah.

No joke, that was over half the cities businesses

That's our damage! I can throw a rock and hit the end of the destruction zone, my buddy across the road has no power. Luckily he just has Children and no fish tanks. (Joke)

I'm also thankful my light was not mailed today because packages are usually delivered here at the time of the storm. Time to watch heroes and relax. I'd offer to help but ems won't let me! I have a rake and good intentions lol.

Holy smokes..scary stuff. Planet earth is going through some changes. Prepare yourself

Dang man glad you're safe!

Our town has construction on the main entrance, so we had 2 options:
1) take the south east road in
Or
2) take the highway around to the west entrance.

1) leads us down past the end of the destruction zone
2) leads us to the beginning

On our way in I noticed the green and took entrance 1) luckily.
Had we gone down entrance 2) we would have literally been the touchdown object!

I'm still shook up about it and my back is killing me from the gate.

The real tornado:

Some crazy person managed to capture that pic yesterday.

And here is the actual path and a couple details

My house is right off the yellow line going from left to right. Exactly one block out of the blue. You can see where it crossed the river and left us alone.

Glad your safe, that's scary there was no warning at all.

Not at all! The radio had an emergency broadcast for Lafayette which was 1.5 hours away heading east towards us, all of the sudden it rips through at 95mph about 1 hour early and was only announced as a severe thunder storm until the first guy yelled tornado!

I know a few people who saw it in person and their cars got totaled. Its really strange because normally tornadoes will hit is up the hill, this was purely a freak of nature
